TRD sway bar

How many have the TRD sway bar installed on their truck? Did you have the dealer do it? Or is it easy to install yourself.

How much better was handling. Thanks for any responses.

It's a 20min job to do it yourself. Don't even need a lift, but you really should have a torque wrench to make sure you get everything tightened properly. Not sure how well it would work if you have a lift installed, though. Sway bars will limit your suspension travel. May or may not be an issue for you.

We have the bars installed on both of our Tundras and the handling difference is very noticeable. Do a search for "sway bar" and you'll find a lot of info on this subject.

By "very noticeable" difference, is that good or bad? Could you please explain what the difference is?

Definitely a good thing if you want more neutral handling. The torsion bar reduces the amount of rear sway/roll when cornering.

TRD Swaybar

I'm new to the Tundra but I have been fitting a few TRD goodies to my 08 DC. Along with the Cat back dual exhaust and TRD CAI (both work quite nicely).
I just installed the TRD rear swaybar, yesterday. The handling improvement is much better then stock and well worth the money and effort. The Truck is now more ballance and planted in corners at speed. Should be an improvement when hauling a load in the bed.

any ideas on how much it limits the suspension travel? We do a fair bit of 4wheelin' with our tundra.

According to the genius at my local parts counter: "Uhh, I dunno...maybe an inch or two?"

I'm pretty sure he rode the short bus to school.

But to answer your question, I really don't know. Our Tundras don't go off-road and our off-road toys have sway-bar disconnects.

Doesn't a TRD model come from the factory with this installed or is it different? Don't know just curious. I've got a DC with the TRD package and I'm pretty sure it has one on it. May be wrong!

My past '07 Tundra trucks with the TRD package did not come with the sway bar installed.

In this region (GST), the TRD package does not include the rear sway bar. Not sure about other regions, but I'd be surprised if it was included since the TRD package is marketed as "off-road ready" and a rear sway bar will limit the off-road capability of the truck.

my trd didn't come with the rear sway bar. Probably not going to install it. I'm already very impressed with the handling of this truck. Plus, I have taken it some pretty amazing places off-road

Having put quite a few more miles on my new rear swaybar, both unloaded and with a dirtbike in the bed. The improvement in the handling is pretty noticeable and really adds to the dynamics of the new Trundra. And this coming for a guys who usually rides and drive sporting machines. Unless your a serious rock crawler. I would highly recommend the TRD rear swaybar.
