Thumbs down No JBA Exhaust

A few guys had asked me to let them know when I got the JBA single side exit exhaust installed, but unfortunately, thats not going to happen now.

I had ordered the exhaust through AutoAnything (AA) on April 9th, and was told both by AA and JBA there would be a slight delay while new kits were being made. I had no problem with that, as I wasnt in a hurry. Got an update once a week, basically a "almost any time now" type of update.

Well, flash forward 5 weeks to today, AA and JBA notified me that my order has been canceled. The JBA exhaust is apparently not available, and on "indefinite back order" to use AA's words, as they were unable to get any time-frame from JBA at all. AA had to cancel the order due to legal time constraints apparently.

I ended purchasing a Magnaflow 16753 catback through AA, they gave me a notable discount due to the inconvenience caused by JBA. AA's service was very good, and they offered that to make it up to me, which is a smart business practice, and a nice thing to do. They'll get future business from me for sure.

If you plan on ordering a JBA exhaust, make absolutely sure it is immediately available - otherwise you may end up waiting a long time for literally nothing. If theres a hint of "back order" involved, well, good luck. I dont fault AA for this obviously, however JBA seems to be having some issues. My suggestion would be to look at something else.

AutoAnything is a great place to buy automotive equipment and accessories. I've had similar good service from them.

BTW... Awhile back I ordered a Recon light bar from Amazon.com at a price that had to have been a mistake. They kept sending e-mails and had me reply to a couple of order extension agreements because it was taking so long. I finally got the light bar 19 weeks after I placed the order.

Best bet is to call JBA and ask them what dealer has the item you are looking for in stock.

I just called JBA and spoke with Dustin and he said they have 07-08 Tundra Dual and single kits in stock all around the US.

He said just tell me the part number you need and I will have a dealer call you that has it on the shelf ready to ship today.

Just an FYI...

That very well may be true, however it is certain that JBA doesnt have any of the 40-9017 kits themselves, so whatever few distributors might actually have them, may not be inclined to give a good price, shipping, etc.

AutoAnything is a well known commodity when it comes to JBA products, and they couldnt even get one, let alone a real ETA on the availability.

Prior to the above transaction, JBA did directly refer me to a specific dealer to acquire the kit. That dealer also did not actually have one in stock, and would have to order it from JBA as well. So, in my case at least, it would have made no difference.

In any case, it was a solid waste of 5 weeks, and a lesson learned. Hopefully some one can use the info I posted, and take precautions to avoid a situation like I had.

Did you check e-bay? I saw a few JBAs on there. Put "Tundra 5.7" in the search. Hope that helps.

Lots of people talk sht about ebay but I've made tons of awesome buys there and had one unsatisfactory experience. Just gotta do the homework by verifying and referencing everything before committing to buy.

I had checked a few other places after the fact. Of the resellers, none had the specific part# I was looking for. Most didnt even list the 40-9017 at all. I checked eBay a few times, but even today all I see in 40-9003's.

What's the difference between the two part #'s?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the 9003 is for 8' beds, and the 9017 is for standard and short beds. Both AA and JBA indicated the 9017 was the correct part# for my truck, which is a standard bed DC.
