Cutting the cats off??
I was talking to a guy @ a local performance shop and ask him what can I do to get a LIL more performance out of my 5.7,, He said cut the converters off..
Humm ok so If I do cut them and build a costume exhaust with welded o2 bungs for the o2 sensors...do you guys think I'll throw a cel SES... |

There are O2 sensor simulators that people use when the cats are removed. And since it's California you don't have to get smogged for 6 years on a new vehicle. However in So Cal there are portable smog stations that sit by the highways and monitor your exhaust gasses, so you could still get nabbed by one of those.

I don't see a problem (i.e. throwing codes) from removing the last set of cats. However, as others have mentioned, you may not pass a smog test . . . visual and/or the sniffer test.
