To be completely honest, it really doesn't matter much horsepower-wise. At most, all a catback is going to yield is 1-7 rear wheel horsepower - which is hardly noticeable on a 5,000lb + vehicle. The sound will be the biggest difference. I know that exhaust companies will tout that their systems add 15-30 rwhp, but I know of no dyno where a muffler added that (besides on a diesel truck, or a truck with a completely crappy exhaust system). From what I've read, these Tundras have fairly efficient exhaust systems stock. Go for sound. If rear wheel horsepower is what you want, you will not the see the benefits of a catback system until you upgrade the exhaust manifolds - especially to longtube headers. Remember, your system can only flow as much as the headers allow. So if you keep the stock manifolds on, that's as much as your truck will flow. The rest is just marketing.

Zoomers also makes a single side exit exhaust, but do a search here like "Zoomers" and see what real customers say about there exhaust from sound, performance, fit and finish to ease of installation...

Anybody have headers along with their exhaust / CAI? I was told this is where you are going to see a very noticable gain....is having all three. My friend suggested JBA's headers to go along with my system. He recommends shorty headers to get more Torque, as this will improve my speed more than long headers....to get all that weight off the line faster.
Anybody have any other thoughts?

My friend has had JBA headers in his car with no problems, and the performance shop he takes it to says they've had great results with them. He's paired it with Lingenfelter intake. I'll have to read the thread.
I know that headers can give people problems though.

As far as performance, nothing beats longtube headers. Nothing. Not mid-length headers or shorties. The problem with LT's is that they force the movement of catalytic converters (or some people remove them entirely). This is against the law. Plus, until tuning software is available for our trucks, you will throw codes with the relocation of 02 sensors. But if performance is your goal, wait for a company to design some longtubes. As a point of reference, on my 2001 LS1 Camaro, I gained 18 rwhp and 24 ft/lbs of torque after installing a set of Pacesetter LT's - and that was shown on a dyno. The headers themselves cost $525. If shorties aren't worth it and LT's pose too many problems, get some mid-length ones. I don't think any are out yet, but they bridge the gap between shorties and longtubes. I've seen some offered for other trucks that keep the stock placement of cats and O2 sensors in place, yet provide nice HP and torque gains. And you are right, to see the biggest gains, you need to have an improved air intake, set of good, highflowing headers and a free-flowing exhaust. Most people get cat back exhausts because they want sound and their cheap. Then, they get an air intake because it's only a few hundred bucks. But doing so - without upgrading the headers - leaves a lot of power still untapped. Header installs are less common because they cost money, and the labor can get pricey. But if you want to do it right, do the following: 1) Air intake 2) Headers (mid or longtubes) 3) Cat back exhaust You can do them in any order that you like, but until you do all three, the power gains will not be considerable. Only when they are done in conjunction can you get the maximum power increases.

yeah i will look into getting some mid headers because it might be awhile for the long tubes to come out so i will look into mid but i am in the air force and we have a garage we use for free with the ift and i will be able to put the headers on but i might go with the magnaflow exhaust and volant intake plussome headers but i havnt seen any decent mid headers, plus maybe i might as wel get the supercharger when it comes out

That sounds like a good plan. Just don't waste your money on the shorties. The LT's may take a while, but they are well worth it. I'm not sure if Stillen, Pacesetter, Edelbrock or any other companies have some headers in the works for our trucks.

I beg to differ on the code throwing, I had LT's on my 06 and no codes were thrown, I did have to use a extension for the 02 sensor but no codes. I miss my LT's.

It all depends where the O2 sensors are located and how they are simulated.
