I don't like the fact that you have to disconnect your ECU and send it in to them so they can program it. It seems like a bad and very long process.

For what its worth dept. I did the CHIP thing with my 2002 Tacoma. Sent the ECU to the outfit via Express Mail. After install I had no end of problems with emissions testing. This may be a better product. Sold the Tacoma out of state.

Alot of tuners will require you to send the ecu in, this kind of tuning is much better than a cookie cutter tune from a piggyback system, once the truck has been out a while they will have more ecu's so you can just send them yours after you get the tuned one in the mail, with a deposit of course!

Makes me nervous... sending in the ECU. Plus it is so brand new.
Somebody with big balls and lots of money try these out and let us know if they work!

I got a feeling I know who might be the first one to try it here.

My main reason for the post wasn't to try and get people to rush out and buy the first thing on the market, just showing everyone at least there's movement in the right direction. ![]()

I can guarantee it won't be me. I tried that route on my s-10 when I first supercharged it, endless reflashes later I ended up putting a new engine in the truck. While a reflash is fine if it works the first time around, Toyota can find it if there is a warranty issue and they have reason to doubt it was just some failed part under normal use. They find tunes daily on diesel engines when there is reason to suspect a part did not fail under normal circumstances.....and they void their warranties on those vehicles. If you can't reflash back to stock and take it to a dealer you are kind of stuck for a while.

GM guys do it all the time. They have to get a "stockpile" of ECU's before they can just mail you one. I have my ecm tuned on my 03 GMC, they mailed me a different one with the tune done to it and I sent my old one back to them. Zero problems, incredible results. |

Another Tuner in the works!!!
I found this on another site. Another Tundra tuner in the works by one of the forum members. No need to reflash your ECM. According to the post you can adjust your tranny shifts, air fuel mixture, disable your speed limiter and rev limiter. You can tune for 87 octane and higher octane. Here's the link:

I bought another ecu for my Magnum SRT8 and had that one programmed. So when its time to go to the dealer you just swap out the ecu's. Works great and the dealer has never noticed.
