aFe CAI install 08 Tundra

As always, my documentation :

The install was fairly simple but the instructions were inaccurate on a couple counts. If you have any questions let me know.

Looks like it fits much better than the Volant on the inner fender. It that a second intake hole on the front of the box? How's the sound?

The afe looks good man the best looking and well made of the closed box designs as far as I'm concerned. do you have a pic of the intake without the cover on the box and does it have a velocity stack where the filter mounts? Does it just have the opening in the fender or does it have any more that I can't see form the picks?

There are two holes (no pun intended), one facing the front of the vehicle and one connecting to the fender well. The seal on the fender well is pretty darn tight and the opening in the front is to grab the extra air in the engine compartment (according to aFe) because the fender well will not provide enough alone. The sound is noticeable when you punch it down (nice deep growling adds to the already good sounding engine noise.) I saw much more consistent gas mileage readings this morning driving to work. Usually my mileage would jump back and forth from 19.5 to 17's when I went over 70 MPH. This morning the mpg indicator didn't go below 18.3 (peaked at 21mpg) and that's driving anywhere from 55-80 mph. Much better consistency. My throttle response seems to have smoothed out a little as well (noticed this shifting lanes on the highway.) So far all is well, I see gains in both MPG (.5-1 mpg with better consistency) and engine performance. You can definitely tell the engine is liking the extra boost.

I paid $332 (free shipping) at Autoanything.com. The product I ordered was the aFe Stage 2 Si Air Intake System - with Intake Tube w/Pro Dry S Filter. I received it in about a week and I ordered it on a Saturday. The instructions had decent pictures but the tools needed were inaccurate but not a problem (just less tools used.)

Hey dohpless, mine is 4x4 as well. I love it. If have any other questions let me know.

The Doc
