flowmaster

I recently bought a 2008 tundra crewmax. I took my truck to a muffler shop to install a flowmaster with dual exhaust but when the guy looked under the truck he noticed some things he has never seen before. 1. The way the pipes are bent up and over and out the side. 2. There is a part that he believes might be a catalytic converter.. I'm not really truck savvy but he said I might have to take it to the dealer to install dual exhaust. Is this true?? Any help would be appreciated from all of you out there that might know what I'm talking about.

If what your talking about is the small bulge in the pipe right after the muffler, its not a catalytic converter its a sound resonator. Bro, put that beautiful Tundra in reverse and get away from that muffler shop now!

Still stock but its on my list and I'm leaning twards Flowmaster or TRD along with the TRD intake. Who knows! This site can inform you and help you make up your mind and it can also confuse the hell out of you and make you go out of your mind.

You can but it would for sure be more expensive. Just call a few more shops until you find one that knows what they are doing. Post the area you live in on this site, there's a good chance someone lives close to you and knows of a reputable shop.

It sounds to me like you should go with a high quality bolt on exhaust system. Try looking at Magnaflow, Zoomers (no personal experience but lots of people here say good things), Corsa, Borla or any other manufacturer that makes a nice quality kit. They are something that you could install in your driveway yourself with some basic tools in a few hours. I am personally leaning towards the Magnaflow dual outlet system. I've been a huge fan of them for a while, and love the sound. They also will include pretty detailed instructions for installation. I say do it yourself, and you'll enjoy it so much more because you've accomplished something.

Also, stay away from crappy little muffler shops that dont seem to know what they are talking about. I've seen too many "custom" exhaust systems that are hacked together and have bubble gum welds all over that do not perform anywhere close to what one of the systems I listed above would do.

My Guy Can Do Duals On Your Truck For About 350$ He Said With A Standard Sliverline Tip Or 400$ With True Double Walled Tips.
This Is My Set Up It Cost Me 260$ The Reason Why I Paid So Much Is Because Of My Tips I Got.
