Volant CAI

I just purchased a Volant CAI from autoanything.com I hope to have it in next week. For those of you that have installed it, is it pretty straight forward? Anything special I should know about?

Also, a friend got the K&N CAI, I assume that should be pretty easy to install also.

I know this has been asked many times, however, which one is better?

Thanks

installed my Volant CAI in about a half hour...is very easy and no special tools are needed. So far it has worked great for me!

Yeah, don't be like the 1,000 of us who installed the MAF sensor backward when you reinstall it in the CAI. Pay real close attention to the direction it came out of the stock box. If you do happen to install it backward and you can't keep your engine running after the mod... that's why.

I'm still up in the air as well about which CAI to purchase either K&N or Volant. I'm kinda leaning towards volant but the $100 difference makes me want to pick up the K&N. In all honesty is the Volant really worth the extra $100?

I'd prefer Volant over K&N anytime now..don't need to oil it and its covered..I had K&N on my '03 Tundra and it was loud alright..my previous '06 Tundra I had Volant..now Volant with a Powercore filter and no oiling needed and sounds pretty good on my '08 Tundra...

Well I decided to purchase the Volant. I should be getting it at the end of this week or early next week. Is it difficult to install? This is first truck and first mod so I really want to do this right.

As of this moment I don't believe it is. Before I ordered they were in stock and their website stated it would ship yesterday. "Your item is expected to ship from 3/28/2008 to 3/28/2008. Please allow an additional 2-5 business days for delivery"

Never did get an email though stating that it did ship. Not even sure if that website lets customers know when a shipment goes out.

I can tell you from experience and dolan can back me up, the gains arent much, me and dolan ran I have a ghetto rigged cone filter no box and he has a volant, mind you im in a crew max also and our runs were identical so go with what you can afford. Just my two cents.

I had a CV K&N cone filter on a very highly modified L-6 TJ Jeep.It was a blueprinted,balanced,4.7 Hesco stroker moter, had all the good stuff inside and would crank 7k on the Autometer. That thing weighed 4500 LBS and it would keep up with all my buddy's rock buggies with their 350s and light weight bodies.I pulled a lot more of them out of the mud then they strapped on me.

Got the Volant installed today. It came in yesterday.

I got the sensor installed right after doing it wrong the first time but after I start up my truck the "MAINT REQUIRED" light keeps blinking for a good 15 seconds and then stops.

Attached a pic of how the sensor should be in there correctly.

Send a message via AIM to FireMedic
Did anyone notice a drop in torque? Where was the difference noticeable, if any at all? Thank you.
