Talking K&N CAI installed - have a question

I just installed the K&N CAI 77 Series on my 07 DC last night and it sounds really good. One question I have for anyone that knows, is it common for it to whistle when accelerating?

just some extra air getting sucked through, no biggie, you will get use to it.

I've heard that CAI's make more noise when you get on it but whistling sounds like an air leak around one of the connections. I speak with NO knowledge of this product, I'm actually thinking about buying one, but I have never heard it described as a whistle.

Just my .02c

I bought one from ebay for $284 delivered to Canada. You should be able to find one from ebay delivered to you for less. That was the k&n 77 series. The TRD does look pretty sweet though.

You have to cut your plenum cover for the trd intake, not very good planning in my opinion, if they didnt put much thought into that what else did they skip? Im in the testing stages with a company for a all new intake system, and when released it should be pretty cheap, im gonna hold on to my money for now, when its produced im sure we can get a pretty good deal on them.

The Stock air box is designed to quick down the intake noise for a comfortable quiet ride.

The air whistling you hear is simply the motor breathing, the throttle body never closed 100% so some air always slips through on decel.

I just installed my K&N 77 series today, purchased it off ebay new for $239 + $20 shipping. Anyway, I'm not very mechanically inclined so instead of taking the quoted 90 minutes, it took me about 2 hours, but I was being very methodical to not hose up my new 5.7. Took it out for a test drive and what a difference in sound and perceived power! I was a little disapointed by the gap between the intake tube and the hole in the heat shield, I've emailed K&N to see what their remedy is.

I just installed the K&N 77 keeping in mind potential air leaks that could lead to a whistling sound. I just test drove it and it has a definite Growl but not a whistle.

organcory, if you are hearing a high pitched whistle I think you may have an air leak in one of the connections from the throttle body to the filter. I suggest you go back and check each connection on both sides of the rubber tube and make sure the clamp is located over a solid foundation.

Again, just my .02c but I don't think you should hear any whistling, ie high pitch sound.

Oh yeah, btw, a cold Beer is in order for K & N, this thing looks as cool as sh#t!
