Sorry guys, new guy question...
First off, kudos to whoever put/keeps this site together...or more importantly kudos to all who keep it going.
I just bought an '07 Tundra 5.7 crew max. I've already redone the exhaust by running individual pipes straight from the cats back to the rear where they meet my flowmasters. Most people seem to be against an intake (despite the manufacturer) for my truck...I'm assuming becasue of the cost/benefit ratio...? Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to what brand or kind of intake that's out there that would be worth the while. If so, ballpark of course, how much additional hp could I be looking at. I will probaby never tow anything with this truck, so I'm all about maximizing its hp, and more specifically its acceleration. On that note, are there any other aftermarket parts out there that anyone recommends to help me accomplish this goal? I'd like to keep this beauty for as long as it makes sense, so stuff like nitrous would be a bit more that I'm looking for. Any help, thoughts, or ideas would be greatly appreciated fellas. Many thanks, Fellow Tundra lover |

I just ordered the k&n 77 series from ebay for $239 plus $45 to ship it to Canada. So $284 to my door. One of the Toyota dealers here quoted me $550 for the air raid installed. I'll let you know about gains when I get it. On there website they show around 50hp gains at 3500rpm and 13.43 hp at 5142 rpm. I had the k&n aircharger in my 05 tacoma and definitely felt increase throttle response and also a bit of an extra kick in the higher rpms. Mainly I just liked the improved sound when I stepped on it. I'm sure many would not see the extra noise as an improvement though.

One question on this CAI and larger exhaust. When you get more air in and more air out faster than the ECU has been programed to accept is there a sure fire way to know if you have not created a lean air/fuel mixture at a higher rpm range.Outside of course a plug read eveytime you matted the skinny pedel.
I know on most other engines you can get an engine programer to increase the duty cycle on the injecters to compensate.Hate to have to redo the injector nozzle up a size as that gets a little expensive. But then again if this ECU is as smart as everyone says it is it should hopefully be able to adjust and adapt to the new airflow through the MAF and O2 sensors.Maybe?????????????? |

Do you know the size of the blower and what psi rating will be?Wouldn't want much over 6/7 psi.Don't know much about how tough these internal parts are. With the compression ratio I sure wouldn't want to have to run 100 VP UL at probally $6 a gallon or more.I know 117 is right at $7.50 if you get a barrell.
I ask my local dealer and they all ready had parts numbers for the blower drive, but no blower,HA HA,I thought that was a little weird. But then again here in eastern Kentucky you learn to expect these things. |
