Well , I read this thread completely and just would like to take the time to thank everyone for all the info . Though I am no scientist , I use 89 octane and will fill up once a month with premium high octane . Because it can't hurt !

I may go to that. I really haven't felt and it doesn't add up to much savings on mpg since I tried this over a month ago. Like you I was doing this every other month one tank of premium. I think I will go back to it. Also Ramoine congrats on becoming a senior member..

There is a lot of great information on this forum. I am not going to get into a Pi##ing match with anyone on here. I enjoy every input on here. Pointing fingers or not. Every day computers get better at taking the thinking out of the equation when it comes to these vehicles. Talking about valve timing and ports in engines is great. Congrats on your knowledge. I wont say your wrong. With gas heading in the direction that it is, I don't think it will be long before this thread will not matter anyway. Lol I just want to see 400HP and 30 miles to the gallon!!! That would be worth talking about. I think its coming sooner than ever.

HEE HEE,if you want 400 poinies and 30 mpg you'll have go German and pay 150K,and still have to run 93 octane.lol

BTW,I build drag race engines and drag race myself, turbo lap top cars, and 1050 Demon big block Chevies, and worked out of Ashland Oil for 20+years which is now Marathon Oil.Used to haul JP-8 to Pratt and Whitney down in W.Palm Beach to use in the SR 71 Black Birds several years ago.SEVERAL??,more like 20 years ago.Time sure flies by when you are having fun.

This 5.7 engine can be unlocked by using a stand alone Accel Gen VII DFI by using it's own sensors, that will allow you to adjust rpms.speed limiter, injector duty cycle, and fuel pump pressure. The OEM will still run everything else.

However,HMMMMMMMMM,that would be 1200 for the DFI,1000 for sensors and new wiring,1200 for a new lap top,600 for interface wiring and DFI CD ROM,plus the cost of special tools for install and the knowledge to do the job right,so go SC and forget all that other stuff, but then again that's another 5k for the blower plus all the other hubs, wires, belts.

I think I'll leave my 5.7 stock, except for a CAI and exhaust and 87 octane,do a plug read every 1500 miles and see how things are going and when I want to go fast and quick I'll fire up my 468 cid,M21.67 Camer and gitter done. But that uses 117 octane, whew it's all up hill from here................

I need to have your job!!! Screw the AF!! lol I am a German car lover my self. I have owned 3 BMW's and a few VW's. You are right you are going to pay for that technology!!! JP8 is my specialty, you were hauling JP4 for the SR71 back in the day I would think. JP8 is like 87 compared to JP4 which is like ultra 94 or something like that!! lol You can run JP8 in your diesel truck if you wanted to with no problems. Jp4 is some potent stuff. It flashes at room temp 73 degrees!! Some scary stuff A lot of explosions with that fuel. Now they use a JP8+100 for the fighters. Gives it a little extra boost!! That stuff will make you sterile!!!

The head engineer at P&W told me that the test they were going to do with my 9000 gallons for one of those new engines they were working on would burn the whole thing up in 15 minutes at full afterburner and they had to keep water spray on the rear of the engine to keep to from a meltdown.""DO WHAT""

oh, i c then. It was in testing. We have a facility called the Climatic Lab at my base where they can make it do anything they want to with weather. GO from -60 to +140* make it snow, rain, ice...whatever they want to. It cost MilS to make. They stress all sorts of A/C in there. Pretty cool stuff.

I haven't actually sat and watched, but I have noticed that Maverick trucks and flying-j trucks pulling into chevron and filling chevron's tanks. A friend of mine used to swear by Chevron fuel, up until I showed her a picture of a Maverick truck filling the tanks at Chevron one day.

I used to fill up at Albertsons, but after I drained my fuel/water sperator one day in my old pickup I had about 3/4 of a cup of water after a week of driving on albertson's fuel. So I switched to maverick and so far I've only got about 1/4 of a cup of water after about 2-1/2 weeks on the same truck.

Water is the biggest problem in dealing with fuel in our world!! We have to drain our separators daily on all trucks and equipment. We do fuel filters constantly also. That just shows you the care taking from the supplier. The better the supplier usually the better the fuel, in all aspects.
