Until June 30, 2015, dealers will be limited to a maximum purchase quantity of 5 Superchargers and 5 each of any of the related parts (fit kit, etc.). Any orders exceeding this limit will be canceled. After June 30th, dealers will be able to order any remaining Supercharger part numbers remaining in inventory without limitations.
I worked for a Toyota dealership in wholesale parts for 8 years before I took my current Job with Acura. My good friend/old parts manager still runs the store and keeps me in the loop on things.
Wow, that is surprising and very sad. My next truck was either going to be a supercharged tundra or a 3/4 ton diesel. Looks like my decision just got a lot easier.
Why did your decision just get a whole lot easier? They are still amazing trucks and just because Toyota will not sell anymore kits doesn't mean the integrity of anything was ever in question.
Sad to see this really but as stated, performance aftermarket will come along banging at some point...It already includes literally everything except a cog drive setup.
True, that is big, but most do not go from the showroom floor to the shop to get the TRD SC installed. It is only the remainder of the factory warranty of 60K miles anyway. It does suck, but it is not the end of the world.
Just another disappointment by Toyota. I really hope they make some big changes with the future of the Tundra and start ACTUALLY listening to their customers instead of claiming they do with the minor BS changes that no one seems to like anyways. Its a shame because as more time passes, I find myself looking at other manufacturers.
Like I said, most don't. You most likely bought an extended warranty and I would check if that actually covers the SC for 100k miles. If it does, awesome.
Yes sir I did buy the extended warranty and I have checked for the warranty at the time of installation, plus I received a coupon for 20% off on parts from my extended warranty which I used on my supercharger and fit kit.
Being as it is extended through all the previous models, and even the FJ/Taco, I would have to guess TRD is getting out of it, or it is an emissions issue or something stupid like that.
I purchased a toyota 96 month or 125000 mile platinum coverage and it does cover the TRD supercharger if it was installed by a Toyota dealership. Definitely worth it IMO. covers everything that was covered in the first 3 years the whole time.
except the aftermarket probably won't have the s/c reflash to go with it like trd had.
