Dang man! Sorry to hear that. Is the dealer going to warranty it? Don't you have pulley/headers too?

I ran on the 95 Tune for a while mixed with E85 and raced the fool out my truck. The last time at the track my truck kept going into limp mode. I figured it was just too much E85, as I was leaning out bad.

When I filled up with Ethanol free 93 I noticed 13ish AFRs at times still and promptly pulled the 95 tune. Hoping I didn't do any damage and sitting on a time bomb.

Any idea what actually led to the rod failure?

I know Blackwidow went through a couple motors on the stock tune and I think Cater as well. It can happen, but seeing with my own logs how lean the 95 runs, it seems likely the root cause. Was your fuel tank low at all. Were you boosting it when it let go or just cruising?

I am long out of warranty. I did not have the pulley or headers. Just modded air box and corsa cat back.

No confirmation of cause but I suspect dirty or bad maf sensor and ecu creating lean condition.

Not good at all. Our motors are high $$$ too. $4-6k for one with over 100k on ebay. That is retarded.

LSX swap? If they can put it in a Prius I am sure it will fit in our trucks.

RUT DUDE!! WTHeck!!?!?!
You're a long time TT guy, what exactly lead up to this?
What are your mileage?
Do you drive your S/C hard daily?
Do you know what boost and AFR you were averaging on WOT?
Were there any signs leading up to this?
Would you say if you didnt have the BD, that this may not have happened?
Is it possible that you ran Bad Gas?,
I just have to know your details... Tomorrow at 6pm, I'm about to dyno tune my turbo for a full 8lb boost and I have a deep down fear of poppping the motor.. This thread just the night before Does NOT Help..
Thanks Man, I'm looking forward to any reply and I'm real bummed about your engine/rods. I thought they were stronger than average.. can you post any photos?

Holy shit Rut!

I went back to my stock tune last fall out of concern. It's really just a matter of time with a boosted engine.

I should really get a jy 5.7 and slowly start building it up with good internals. Honestly I think a good set of rods would go a long way.

Very sorry to read that man.

fwiw, even tho I am N/A, and I have been ok with my BD tuner, I may be interested in selling it soon. NO, NOT due to being unsatisfied with the gains, but only because selling it would benefit my Grand National project immensely.

I will miss the feel tho, as it really did make a difference even on my N/A truck.

Glad you got to play with a S/C truck dude

I would suspect everyone with 500 plus whp is close to the limits of the stock rods. Least little tune issue. Boom
