How are they going to come out "far ahead" cost wise having the buy the SC themselves? Sure, they don't have to pay labor for the SC install, but how's the SC cost going to be made up to them? Also know that it will totally void their warranty since Toyota doesn't do SC on FF, so that's more "cost" you have to make up.

So, you'll make up $3000 for the SC, extended warranty price doesn't factor in since you will void the warranty upon install anyway. What exactly are you offering this guinea pig? I think it must be substantial to take such a risk on a $40k+ investment.

For starters they will be the first one with a SC Flex Fuel Tundra. The people we want to help us test are wanting the SC anyways so that cost should already be planned by the consumer. If we did the install that is also money and time saved let alone a ton of hassle. The warranty is a difficult one. i would assume whoever wants to SC their tundra probably doesn't care about the warranty in the first place.

Unfortunately i wont debate to much on who is buying what and who is covering who. If someone wants to step up and get some free stuff in the process, then everyone will win.

any damage done to the vehicle we take care of. Its a risk free way to do something that hasnt been possible before.

I think it's cool that you're looking for people to help, and to SC a FF, but to state that people who SC their tundra probably don't care about the warranty in the first place is probably incorrect. Those who SC their tundra 99% of the time get the SC installed by a toyota dealership so that CAN maintain the warranty. I would bet you that if the mere fact of installing a SC voided the warranty, even it was done by a toyota dealership, there would be a LOT less SC trucks around. One of the best points of a SC is that you CAN keep your warranty, IMO.

i can agree with you on that one. I come from a world where people buy 60k trucks and could care less about their warranty just so they can do a few modifications. I will get to know you Tundra folks eventually

I get what Lyle is saying. If BD gets a tune to put a supercharger on a FF and people want one they are going to lose their warranty anyways if they install one. Danoh, if don't want to do it back off before they decide it's not worth the hassle to do this for other forum members. Just saying

Yes & no. Toyota does NOT warranty sc applications on ffv so he's correct the ffv owner that wants a charger doesn't care about the warranty. Us ffv owners have been searching for a safe reliable way to do it other than trusting sparks that the unichip will handle it, they say they do them all the time but yet can't give one reference. I trust Bd far more than sparks & a unichip and they agreed to install and cover a $8k+ motor easily (used). Give em a break at least they offered.. If they don't have a test mule by winter I may buy the charger and ship my truck to them if no one offers..

I seriously doubt little 'ol me is going to influence their decision on making hundreds of thousands of dollars selling tuners and getting a flex fuel truck SC'd and tuned. Just saying.

So Lyle, great offer you're making. For a bit of clarification for the potential guinea pig, you will agree to cover the cost of any damage done with the BD unit during R&D & testing...but is that for that timeframe only, or say 5K miles post "thumbs up c'ya later"?

There are lots of older Gen2 Tundras that are out of warrantee or others that are going to soon be out of warrantee. Out of those, there are the ones that still want to have a performance mod done. With the choices of FFV-S/C. (Or a Turbo if Lyle decides to make a future BD tune for that..hint hint), a whole new market just opened up.
