Rear cat delete

So I know this topic has been brought up several times, but just to add fuel to the fire... I removed my rear cats ran 2.25" pipe back to 2 flowmaster 40s and then dumped it just last the rear axle. Great sound. Very throaty. No rasp or cab drone. Still pretty quiet at idle and cruising but down right dirty when you get on it. I have to get emissions and I passed with flying colors.

I heard the front cats do 90% of the emissions reduction.

Attention environmentalists, reduce emissions from this:

The front cats are the ones that do most of the work from what I can tell the 2 rear ones only purpose is back pressure and sound dampening. Otherwise useless in my eyes

Ya that pretty much has been my findings as well. Cheap mod for some good sound. If I lost any power on the low end like some claim, I haven't noticed and as far as mpg, they've been steady as well.

Nice, I've been wondering about this. I may do it if it doesn't cause you to lose any low end tq, or decrease in mpgs. I mean, I know a truck is a truck, but im averaging 14.7 city, 18.6 hwy. So any little bit helps. hahah. If you do lose any tq or mpgs, please inform us. I am redoing my exhaust in the morning, dual glasspacks, h-pipe, out to 2.5" piping, and I believe 3" tips. Haven't measured yet. But I'm looking for a nice throaty sound, kinda poppy too(glasspacks), point is, I'm interested. hahahaha. kinda rambled.

Sounds like a winner. Post some pics of the finished set up. You're leaving the front cats right?

I was gonna gut mine, but decided to just have them cut out and put a straight pipe in. This way I still have a my rear cats saved if I were to ever need them again, or I can sell them if I wanted too.

Thank you sir.

And cat delete woukd be better than gut. As stated you could reuse or sell. I feel that gutting the cats would be useless unless your inspection place looks for four. But I dont see why they would. My ford only had two.
