Definitely a waste of money. If you're looking to get better mpg's you could replace those 24's with some 22's and smaller tires, that will help you out some and you will feel more power from the S/C.

I always ask, if that little plastic ring will improve mileage and performance, why doesn't the factory install them?

Let us put this to the test. I will contact the company and explain that I do fuel economy research and development and that I would be interested in testing their product. I will let them know that I am a member of both TS and TT as well as the Fuel Economy Moderator at TS. Reputable company will provide a product for testing, disreputable company will not respond or will say that I can buy product and return in 60 days if dissatisfied.

I will also include a link to this thread as well as post their response (if any).

Here is the email I sent to the company president, senior vice president, and vice president:

Hello,

I do fuel economy research and development for the Toyota Tundra. I have taken my truck from around 15 MPG on the highway to the low 20's. I have my own Blog where I write about my research and experiences Tundra Fuel Economy and although a very serious family matter necessitated a break from my posting back in March I am getting back into the mode of testing and writing again. I am very interested in testing your product and am inquiring as to if you wold consider providing a Mileage Edge Plus fuel saving device for testing and review?

In addition to having my own Blog I am also a member of
Tundra Talk, a Tundra forum with 51,246 members http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/ and
Tundra Solutions Forum with 178,226 members Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum where I am also the Fuel Economy Forum Moderator

I look froward to your response.

Best regards,

Toby

J/k.
If the product works I will do what I can to set up a group buy for those members who are interested. I will be laying out the testing protocol in the next day or two and post it here as well as on my Blog. This should be really interesting.

Few questions though. How do you intend to test it? Are you looking for instant results, long term results? What are you looking for (besides the obvious MPG increases)? Air/fuel ratio changes? Would this part (in theory) help (if it does) every motor configuration? Any benefit to supercharged motors?

Sorry, I'm just pessimistic here, and don't see how a little plastic gimmick (remember the "tornadoes"?) can somehow increase airflow by 25%, or whatever they claimed.

Thanks for stepping up to testing this thing, for the good (or bad) of all of us

Looking forward to your test results.
I share your doubts but always love testing products. I was surprised that they agreed to send one to me to be tested knowing that I will post the results here, over on Tundra Solutions, and on my Blog. I think that someone peddling a device that did not work would have ignored my email. It sure would be nice if it did work and we shall see.

Insofar as how I will test it I have been tracking fuel economy since the day I drove my truck off the lot. My protocol and accuracy has improved over the years. I have accurate records of my mileage. Additionally I have been tracking real time mileage with my Scangauge. Around here I pretty much drive the same routes each week. There are several stretches of highway that I like to run where I know what my mileage will be. I will compare the numbers for those stretches to get an initial feel. The real numbers will be with the overall tank average. I am eager to get this testing moving soon so as to have enough time to generate data before the return of Summer-blend fuel. I will be testing in accordance with the EPAs FTP 75 ABA.
