Question Roady Xt Xm Radio Install

Hey folks, I'm prepping to install a XM receiver in my Tundra DC. Anyone have a Roady XT or similar XM radio installed ? If so what are the best mounting locations and through the body routing for the exterior antenna and sure-connect antenna clip ? Pictures and suggestions welcome !

i mounted mine on one of those mounts that fit in the cup holder and the audio output is plugged into the aux jack. antenna goes out through the fire wall somehow on the passenger side then up the pillar to the roof and power is tapped off the radio somewhere (dealer moved and installed it from my 4runner).

I haven't actually really looked at a 1st gen Tundra (I didn't even know they existed before I came here, lol) so I'll just give some general ideas...
LMR coax is small enough that you can run it between the rubber trim/seal pieces running down the side of the A pillar and the windshield, on the roof just slip it under the existing rubber strips. And then the A pillar conveniently leads into the engine compartment where you can poke it through a cable grommet into the cab. Best mounting location for the satellite antenna itself is on the top of the cab, preferably as close to the middle as possible, but realistically more on one edge near one of those rubber strips.

I'm not sure why you want to use the sureconnect because an inline adapter (called the "Delphi FM Direct") that plugs between the radio antenna coax going into the deck would work better and make for a cleaner install...or a line level aux input of course would be the best. But if you have it already and insist on it then clip it on and drop the cable in through the fender-hood gap, run it through the same way as the antenna (since the antenna needs to be plugged into the sureconnect's junction anyway). It probably works on inductive RF coupling and not conductive coupling (which would require sanding off some paint on the antenna whip).

Arrow Follow-up

Thanks for the replies, I was looking for grommet points either on the firewall or foot board area. In the past I've put a small hole and used a fish tape to pull the wiring through for a pretty clean install. I like this method better since it seem to alleviate some of the wind noise you can get with disturbing the door seals. Also looking for installation points for mounting the receiver. The small rectangular indent below the 4X4 HI switch in the center console seems like a suitable spot but I'm curious to see how others have done it.

I had an XM receiver in my 2008 Tundra. I mounted it to the middle driver's side air vent and had a local shop feed all the wires into the back of the unit from the air vent itself. All the wires were connected and fed behind the dash so there were no wires hanging anywhere.

It was a really clever and clean install that looked like a factory job. Unfortunately I never took a picture of it before trading the truck in for my current one.
