I was thinking about getting the backup camera and monitor but noticed in the description that trucks with v8's must have bucket seats. I have a 5.7 DC 4x4 long bed with the bench seat. Just curious if anyone knows why this is or if anyone has installed the camera and monitor with the same setup.
Do you have sonar or tow pkg? There is also an easy way to tell if you look under the rear of your truck passenger side next to spare tire. If you have a wire there with a grey end on it going no where the your rig is pre wired for the camera.
yea, just look under the passenger side, next to the spare tire under the bumper. If you see an unconnected plug with a gray end, then you're pre wired.
I have a DC with bench seats, and was pre-wired. Not sure why that would impact the camera. Just make sure you are pre-wired and you have the overhead console with the sunglass holder. It installed in less than 1/2 hour and has been very useful.
So I looked under the back end of the truck and noticed there are two plugs not connected to anything - one dark gray, the other white, roughly a foot apart with the white one being behind the license plate. I guess based on what you guys said the gray one is for the backup camera, so I should be ok to get one of those. How hard is the installation for the camera and the monitor? I do have the sunglass holder so the monitor will go there obviously. Anyone have an idea what the white plug is there for?

White plug is for the Sonar I believe. Install should take no more than an hour and that's taking your sweet time.
Thanks for the info guys. I was just curious about the white plug, but I think I'm going to order the camera and monitor... it would sure make hooking up my trailer easier!

I have a grade RC and I do have the wire and grey plug that is not connected to anything. Sparks has said the kit will not work on a grade regular cab. I do have the sunglass holder in the overhead console but my console is diferent than the double cab and crew max in that there is no dome lights on the sides, just one in the center on the end of the console. Does any one know if for sure that this kit would work ?

look under the bed next to the spare tire carrier. or else drop your headliner console and check. your next door neighbor could tell you it is but with out checking your self my friend, you could be surprised.
just stick your head under the bumper and look at the end of the frame and see if you see any plugs? if so tell us what color and if they have a dust cap.
