Drivers side door handle cable broke.

Hi,

The inside dirvers side door handle cable snapped over the weekend and now i cant open the door from the inside. Its the cable that connects from the handle to the lock.

Does this mean i have to get a new lock or just a cable? Is this a difficult job to do, or is it manageable?

Thanks..

Ben.

In my years of working in a body shop, I took apart alot of door panels. The plastic clip that holds the cable in place probably broke. (Common in many older vehcles, especially Merce***) It is quite easy removing the door panel. Remove the window switches, and pop off the panel by removing the clips. Once you get started, it is super easy to put it back together....

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I ended up taking it to a garage in town, its going to cost about $70 to fix. Its the actual cable that snapped, the end of it was feathered. I took the door panel off and the window buttons and all that but i couldn't get a replacement cable. The guy in the garage told me i would have to get a new lock for the door as they don't sell cables separately (I also checked this by calling a toyota dealer).

Thanks again.
