Question Bug Shield

I do alot of highway traveling, and my windshield gets blasted with bugs. Does the bug shield really help to reduce the amount of bugs that splatter on your windshield?

it does help a bit. But don't expect full protection. I would say it's better to have it. I do a lot of highway driving along FL and I see bugs hitting the bug shield all the time. But my windshield still gets dirty.

i've had mine on for a few weeks, and notice my bug shield racks up quite a collection of splatters every couple days. just imagine all that on either your hood or windshield. even though it may not offer full protection, its well worth the $50 bucks

I don't think a bug shield is giong to help keep your windshield clean. That shield is only like a few inches high. Any bug the flies over the top of the shield is going to hit your windshield and splatter...

Not worth it to me. Plus, about every one I've ever seen usually rubs the paint off of your hood after a while, or at least causes some kind of unwanted marks after time.

Helps protect my windshield from small rocks. I wish I had installed this thing before I got 2 rock chips on my windshield. Now, I don't hear anymore rocks hitting the windshield.

I just received mine. I've installed them on ever truck I've owned, I even installed one on my wifes 2003 Honda Accord. I think it protects the hood more than it does the windshield.

NONE of the hood/bug shields I've had has ever rubbed the paint off the hoods or damaged the paint. The hood shields, if installed correctly should not touch any part of the hood except under the hood where it is fastened.

Exactly. On long trips they'll be bugs on the windshield and guard but nothing on the hood.

yeah, so i dont see how the bug deflector could screw up the paint. theres space b/w the bottom of the deflector and the hood so water can seep thru. its very worth it.

Have one as well. Bugs on the windshield all the time, but nothing on the hood (bugs or rock dings).

Defintly helps keep crap off the hood and helps with keeping the bugs off the windshield, but nothing is going to be 100% effective. I have the AVS bug deflector and like how it conforms to the body styling.

I have fewer splatters than before I purchased it. They need to change the angle so the air flow raises off the nose a little more, the stream coming off the bug visor doesnt clear the windshield. The splaters seems to be 1/2 way up it and higher.

First mod done to my 07 Crewmax. AVS has a good product and for scraping paint or rubbing it, I would consider the installer first. Never had an issue with bug shields since my first truck in 92. To show you versatillity of my AVS bug shield look at the pics. I still have the same bug shield on.
