Bedliner Line-X/Rhino question

I know this topic has been hashed and rehashed on this forum.....used the search function to do some research, but I have a question or two about the differences as they stand right now.

I've had each in the past, but it's at least 7-8 years since I've had either put in and I'm sure things have changed for one or both products. Based solely on my experience, I prefer the look and toughness of Line-X and the fact that it seems to hold it's color longer, and I much prefer the feel and usability of the Rhino because it tends to be "stickier" and keep things in place and from slipping. After all, that's probably the biggest reason I want a liner to begin with.

Question is.....do either of these companies have a product that does both well, that is stop slipping as well as provide long lasting color retention and toughness? I know some new products have been added in recent years byt both companies. FWIW, I'll be going with standard black and price IS an issue. And from what I've found thus far, Rhino is about $100 less than the comparable Line-X job.

I know there's a few reps/dealers on the board.....any input is appreciated.

i'm not very knowledgeable about bedliners, as this is the first truck i've owned... but I can tell you that I just put in my line-x spray in bedliner last week and I was very impressed. Its a nice finish and though I haven't put anything major in the bed, what I have put in has yet to slide around the bed. A few days ago I put in a 6 gallon vertical cooler than was filled with gatorade. I was afraid it was going to tip over, but it didn't...if that helps at all. hehe
My dealer was very helpful and with the lifetime nation-wide warranty, you can't go wrong with line-x. As far as price difference, there was none originally. But when I mentioned to my line-x dealer the price Rhino was charging, they beat them by $25. So I got mine done for $375. Not quite sure how much it is in your area though...
here are some pics

hope this helps!

I alsp have and recommend line-x. In the Syracuse,NY area, it actually was over $100 cheaper than rhino liner and line-x is a much better product. I can't imagine anything slipping in your bed after having this put on. If you are concerned about loosing the shine of your liner, line-x offers "line-x Xtra". I think prices are different in different areas, and to be honest I don't remember what the difference was here. I didn't even give it a thought because all it is, is a UV protection so it doesn't fade. I am putting on a truxedo cover in a week or two and felt it would have been a waste of money.

I was going to upload some pics but, my truck bed looks exactly like the one above.

You can always throw in one of those cheap non-skid mats when you need it. Keep it rolled up behing the back seat when not in use. I keep one on my bed-slide cause the carpet is slippery:

Thanks for the replies guys.....I went ahead and went with my instincts as well as the consensus here and got Line-X installed today. After several calls around, I was able to find a Line-X dealer who cut me a deal comparable to what I was going to get with Rhino with a cash discount if I was able to bring it in today, which worked out great.

And Impelled.....what a simple but effective idea about putting a non-skid mat in the bed under whatever it is we need to stay relatively still. We just take quite a few road trips with coolers and gas cans and such in the back and I was worried that Line-X wouldn't be slip-resistant enough. No worries now.....very happy with the new bedliner and my first "mod."

Looks great! That black really stands out against the Super White. I was showing a friend my Line X today, and he kept commenting how thick it was and how sharp the edges are. I guess the tape they use has some kind of thin wire in it, and they "zip-cut" that edge. Good touch on the bolts too!

Did you go under or over the rail? I was thinking of going over rail but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to put the plastic rail caps back on or worse yet be able to put a tonneau cover on it later on.

LineX here wants 450 under rail. I had a Rhino before and it chalked up after about 9 months so you'd get black if you brushed up against it.

Mine is sprayed right to the top edge of the bed. They did shoot on top in the back behind the window as there was nothing in the way there. (Make sense?) They will remove the hardware and bolts, then shoot it, and re-install everything. I think it looks better that way. $450 may be a little high, but it all depends on where and who is doing it. Ballpark guess is $400 average. Some a little less , and some a little more.

Mine was under rail too....no real reason to do the top with the plastic bed caps. The regular rate here is $450 also with most of the dealers with discounts in the $20-$30 range. The place where I had it done was going to charge $420+tax, but offered $400 OTD if I brought cash. Saved about $55 with the cash discount. You might inquire about that.

any particular reason why you didnt remove your bed rail tops and have them shoot the top as well?

No reason for me. They didn't offer to go under, and I didn't think about it.

why would anyone want them to go over the top if they plan on putting the plastic bed rail tops back on? Usually the only trucks you will see go over the rails with Line-X are GM's or Chevy's that do not come with bed rail tops.

I'm most likely going to get this done. I called and my local dealer wants $425.

Got the linex sprayed on and went with the linex xtra so that it wont fade from black to grey. doesnt help to much with slipping. The place where ihad i done didnt want to have to remove the top bed caps becuse they wouldnt fit after being sprayed but am putting on dimond plate bed caps on it so it didnt really matter to me. Over all i paid $550 including the $100 for the xtra. I would recomend getting the xtra so it wont fade, ive seen some trucks with both the black and colored linex that didnt have the xtra on it and when it fades it looks like $h!+.
