Hood safety latch rod holder
HI guys/gals,
I was installing a hood deflector on my 2003 Toyota Tundra Access Cab, and it required that I remove the grill. Well, in removing the grill I had to disconnect the rod that releases the safety latch. As is normal for me(I always seem to break something while doing my own work), I broke one of the plastic rod holders and am looking to replace either the rod(with the plastic rod holders), or just the plastic rod holders. Does anybody know if this is possible? Does anyone know what the part number is? The dealership is not open for a few more days and cannot call them. |

The plastic pieces are common in all vehicles. You might try an auto parts store and see if they carry one. Should be really cheap.

Thank you for your reply...I did go to the Toyota dealership when they opened and the part was an easy find(I need both plastic ends and the price was just under $5Canadian each. I tad expensive, but hey, what can you do?
Another issue I have found. My temperature control knob in my truck will not go to maximum position. It feels like there is something preventing it from staying in the maximum cold position. When I turn it to maximum(with a little extra effort), it springs back to about 75%. I actually noticed that in the winter when I wanted to turn it to full maximum hot position, only it sprung back to about the 90% heat position. I have looked under the dash and it looks like getting at the linkage is going to be a pain. Anybody have any suggestions? Tips at getting at the control or flap? thanks again |

If you want to try to fix it yourself, the beginning of this will show you how to remove the controls: (This is for SR5, but should be similar on the Limited) Pioneer AVIC-Z2 NAV install (Lots of Pics) - Toyota Tundra Forum And the beginning of this will show you how to take the control apart: Dash LED Swap - Goodbye Amber... - Toyota Tundra Forum

I try. Unfortunately that knowledge doesn't get me any mod money.
Those are actually for a NAV install and for swapping out the amber dash LEDs for blue LEDs. But I guess they work for showing how to do what he wants to do. Pictures are always easier to understand.
