New 08' 4.7 Tundra
Just picked up an 08 4.7L Tundra last month and I'm looking to start a few performance mods. I've been searching around for a CAI and exhaust that will fit the engine, but it seems like I can only find aftermarket parts for the 5.7.
Any help out there on finding performance parts for the 2008 4.7? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Just got word today! 2 weeks, and when they get here I'll start a thread on how I'll get em out to everyone. First round might be a buck a piece.
I went with a clear UV protectant on white vinyl and the 3 colors. Very durable sticker for vehicle windows.![]()

Thanks for the link to the CAI, I'll have to check that out.
I ended up paying 30k even out the door and got 0% financing for 60 months so I was pretty happy. This is a huge step up from the 98 Blazer I owned before. I also have a 03 Tiburon that is extremely modified so I'm used to spending money for aftermarket parts. The Tib has a $5,000 custom paint job, custom fiberglass body, Tein racing suspension, and N/A engine work to push out 220hp which is fairly significant in a car as light as the Tib. I used to road race when I was in college, but now the car is just a toy that looks pretty sweet flying down the highway. It is a death trap in any kind of weather though, and can't haul anything (I just bought an older house to remodel). I've already dropped money into the Line-X liner for the truck and plan on getting at least CAI, exhaust, and steps. I'm really having a tough time finding exhaust or headers that will fit the 4.7L though. As for pics I'll see what I can do later next week. I'm travelling right now so I'll have to wait till I get home again. |

ive heard it both ways the main reason people are going with the 4.7L is the dealers are giving killer prices on them if you're looking for gas mileage .. i think you're looking about the same with the 4.7L and 5.7L .. it all depends on how you drive it

Well my general knowledge after seeing other owners' experiences makes me think that the 5.7 does a bit better on the highway and while towing. Now I would not expect a "great" difference though. After a k & N air filter and using synthetic oil I have been getting 18.0-18.8 mpg on the highway going at 70 mph constantly. Meaning that going at 65 mph or less I could get a bit over 19 mpg, which is not too bad IMO.
Like the above post said it depends a lot on how yuo drive. I have also noticed that many people claim very impressive averages, and we have to consider what's the meaning of "city" for some folks: couple of stops cruising at 45 mph in small towns?, or maybe many stops, more stop lights parking garages etc, more traffic. So in my opinion if yuo are looking to save some money and can get a killer deal on a 4.7L it is still worth going for it. just a thought

I just bought my 4.7 3 weeks ago and I have only got 170 miles on it. I am hoping that the mpg will improve once I break it in abit. I traded in an 88 4x4 that I bouight new and it had over 260k on it. I can not imagine me ever buying anything but a toyota.
