Just picked up a brushed chrome cap for mine- looks good and works well.

My one complaint is the holes they give you to put the cap retainer on are nowhere near large enough to fit the nib at the end of the wire. I'll just have to put the cap on my tonneau cover at the station..

If you want one, several places sell them- I think AutoAnything - Truck Accessories, Auto Accessories, Auto Parts, Car Covers, Tonneau Cover and Seat Covers at Discount Prices has them at a decent price with free shipping.

Yup, that's my complaint too. One of these days i'm gonna shave the nib down little by little till it fits nicely.

If its security you are looking for save the money on the Gas Doors and buy a Stant Locking Gas Cap at to your local auto parts store, your only going to spend around $15.00, Part # 10504 or 11504 (depending if its in a box or hanging).

Na, why not have something that functions and looks good at the same time. If someone wants to try prying off my fuel door my alarm will scare em off. I hear if you grip and twist hard enough that $15 paperweight will just come right off. Just sayin man!

I have a Stant Locking Gas Cap and never had the engine light come on. That’s not to say that it has never happened, not every product or truck are ever built exactly the same and anything is possible.

I was offering info to the some members commenting in the thread that either don’t see the point in spending the money on a gas door or don’t like the fit of the gas door on the truck, like U.P. Tundra who specifically asked.

If you apply enough pressure or leverage to anything it will fail or brake.
I hear gas doors are made by 12 year old slaves in Korea, but that doesn’t make it true.

All a lock is ever going to do is to keep the honest and lazy people out, if a Thief wants something bad enough he’s going to take it, a lock or an alarm is not going to stop them.

I could have rambled on about how I don’t like the look of gas doors and that IMO they look out of place and sometimes don’t fit right, but I don’t believe negative comments that aren't constructive are going to help the flow and effectiveness of a thread.

Now look, We are all off topic and owe sams an apology.

Sorry, sams

“Just Saying Man!

Peace,
Charlie

Charlie, I admire you for your fairness and even temper. Great post my friend. Sorry about the negativity.

I actually like the fuel locking door option, but it only looks good depending on the color of yuor truck. That's why I went with the stant gas locking cap. It does seem to stay there firmly, seems hard to remove it without the key. No lights coming up in the dash yet, as long as it's sealed properly. It's not a high quality product but for $15 wth, it does the job.

I broke mine yesterday! I forgot that it locked and just grabbed it and turned, and the cheap sob broke. The top came right off and I had to use pliers to unscrew the rest!

My AMI fuel door looks great, works great, and I secured it with stainless tamper proof screws.
