maintenence required light came on

, just hit 12,000 miles, and I noticed upon starting the truck the light will flash then go out, anyone have some info on this, or do I need to bring it into the shop? I recently removed my carbon filter in the air intake, could this be the culprit, or is it coincidence?

The carbon filter removal will not trigger the light, after I read Dez's post I contacted my service writer and he explained that it traps fuel vapors after the motor is turned off and it won't hurt anything to remove it.

If you got your first oil change early it will come on early it does this on my 06Dc if I get the oil changed early for long trips that will take me before my next oil change I go a head and get it changed. Get keep riding until it's time for a oil change on the sticker and then take it in and the dealer will reset it.

light

Thanks everyone for posting, I guess i'll bring it in for a check up, i'll post the results. If you were to reset it, chances are, if something were wrong, it should come on again? Funny this is the first time i've seen this light, and i've done all my own oil changes

Mine did this the other day as well and it hasn't happened since. I only have 4.7k on my truck and have yet to change the oil.

it does it as you approach the 5,000 mile interval for an oil change. Then, when you get really close, it just stays on all the time. That's all it is... your engine isn't throwing a code or anything. There is actually a way to reset it outlined in the owner's manual... but then you might forget to get an oil change.. .right?

Sometimes the mechanic forgets to reset it. It happened on the wife's Prius. She had her oil change before the light came on and it came on like it shoul have.

Hey all,

It is easy to reset the Maint warning light. Turn your ignition to on, set the odometer to Trip A turn your ignition off. The hold the Trip button in and turn your ignition back on. Your Trip option will show all 00000's and then say maint rest or something like that. It is in the owners manual as well.

maintenace required

this light is nothing but a reminder that you need to change your oil......read the owners manual and it will explain how to shut it off

I never thought it was so simple to reset this light in the dash. I don't have it on, but something like this happened on my last vehicle as well.
