What will void my warranty

I am not going to put a ton of mods on my Tundra...intake, muffler, bug guard, underseat storage...the easy things ok...the cheap things. I did buy the extended warranty and was wondering what would void that?

I did search the site and found some info on lift kits and the magnuson act!

Thank you for everything!

Read your contract carefully as a lot of extended warranties are from writers other than the car manufacturer. They can be VERY specific as to who does the maintenance (i.e. oil changes) and that there be zero mods. Extended warranties are a big money maker and the companies that offer them like to use any excuse not to pay if something happens.

I had this problem with a new Mustang I bought where they tried not to pay for a blown head gasket only 2 years after I'd bought it, just because I'd installed headers. I ended up having to take it to court where I won, but what a hassle!

I would imagine that's what it boils down to...how much are you willing to put up with? Legally, the manufacturer would have to prove that your mod caused the warranty claim. However, they'll deny anything they can when they get wind of you adding anything to the truck to get out of paying for it. That's when you have to decide if it's worth taking them to court. Otherwise, you're SOL.

well, I didn't have a problem with my warranty on my Celica a few years ago, it was lowered, with 17's, CAI, and cat back exhaust. I asked about the mods, and the service rep. advised me that the if my engine blew, they actually had to thouroughly inspect, and prove that the mods on the vehicle were the cause of the engine failure. Then again, as mentioned above, I would suggest a complete afternoon, and a magnifying glass and read the fine print in the warranty contract, and brochures. Worst case scenario, with simple mods, you can return they to stock before going in to the service center. Have fun with ur truck.

Lifetime warranty and so far I'm still covered by the dealership. Only small catch. The dealership does all required maintenance.
