SR5 to Limited Door Handles

Hi All. I just got new limited door handles and would like to replace my SR5 ones. Does anyone know how to safely remove the door panels? There is only one push rivet near tweeter area but rest of door has no other visible screws or rivets. I just do not want to break a plastic piece trying to pop it out.

It's my understanding that there are two screws on the door handle. One under the felt inside the handle and another one near by hiding behind a plastic tiny door. Then once those are off, it's just a matter of popping out the scattered clips without breaking them.

someone please post more detailed instructions. I'll be doing this tonight when I get home to install my Tow Mirrors.

Thanks Syber. I suspected they were in similar place as in T100. I had to change my door handles in that when the plastic broke. I was just scared to poke around on the new car. PS. Cool image on your signature. Like Sithlord meets Matrix. Like your blacked out Tundra too.

Thanks Syber. I thought it might be similar to the T100 (which it is), but was chicken to start trying to peel and pry away at the new panel. Like your image on signature. Looks like Sithlord meets Matrix. Nice blacked out Tundra too.

Thanks! Okay man, just installed my tow mirrors. To remove the door panel you have to remove two screws from it. One is in the arm rest under the black felt piece of fabric. That piece of fabric simply lifts up. I used a small screw driver to pull it up. Under there is one screw. The second is behind the door handle. The handle as in where the door lock is and what you pull on to open the door. Behind there, you will see a piece of plastic. I used my credit card. Slipped it under the plastic and pulled up. it popped right up. Behind there is the second screw. Remove both screws then just start lifting the door panel from the bottom. Pull away from the door and you'll start hearing the clips popping off. Once all the clips are off, you should be able to unhook all the wiring to get to the door handle. The clip closest to your side view mirror will be the hardest to remove. I ended up using a flat head screw driver to remove them. I stuck the screw driver behind the pannel and pryed off the clip. It popped right off. Hope that helps. Not too tough a job.

EDIT!!! Do not stick a screwdriver behind the door pannel to pop off that clip near the side view mirror. You're supposed to push in the center of the clip which will release the clip easily. Popping it off the way I did, you're risking breaking the clip. I got lucky that I didn't break them.

You can luck out and find them on Ebay for around 300 - 350 a set. Or you can try to get them from the dealership for about 290 a piece. I love the tow mirrors. I like the way they look

haha, yea, it takes time to adjust to the difference between the tow mirrors and the sport mirrors. I still have to adjust my small mirrors. They're outta whack.

the door panel doesn't need to be removed for the handles to be replaced.just open the door, you'll see a round black plastic plug-pop it out,use a torx t30 screwdriver to remove the screw to the door lock-and don't worry about losing it,its got its own holder, now pull the lock part out,to remove the handle-pull it back towards the space where the lock was,pop the old cover off of the lock and pop the chrome one on.when you put the new handles on,give them a couple of little taps to make sure they're seated.all in all you can prob have this done in about 45 mins with the right tools.
