Bed liners and running boards

I'm ordering a CrewMax and I would like some input on the differences between a drop-in liner and a spray-in liner. When I purchased a Silverado in '99, spray-in liners seemed relatively new and I went with a drop-in and was pleased with it at the time. Now, it seems like most go for the spray-in. Why?

Also, are the Toyota running boards good quality or should I be looking at aftermarket?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info.
I had read a lot of that but I was also interested in why people select spray-in over drop-in.

drop in liners scratch the paint then water gets in there then the rust. I havent gotten my LineX done yet but I already got rid if the drop in. Of course thats just my 2 cents

I went a different way. I painted my bedliner using Herculiner. 3 Hours and 2 coats. My opinion drop in bedliner aren't any good. Yesterday's technology.
Mickey's 07 Crewmax Limited - Toyota Tundra Photo Gallery gives you a pic of the Herculiner I have. Had it on my last 3 trucks and have worked fine. If you prep right you won't have a problem. Also cost $68 plus another $6 for acetone.

Bedliners

I'm thinking of a "Bedrug" bedliner. It cost $399 online or $499 from brick and mortar shop. They are also sold by Toyota, Ford & GM. It seems to be as tough as a drop-in, but won't scuff your bed. BedRug

I shopped between dealers and one of them threw in my choice of Toyota boards or bars at no charge. I opted for the boards as I had bars on a Silverado and Suburban and wanted a change.
