Smile TRD Spin-on Oil Filter for Tundra 5.7

Check it out... TRD hi-pref spin-on oil filter for the 5.7

Sparks Toyota also has a great price on a 10 pack of regular oil fiters; works out to about $3.50 a piece, or a buck cheaper than buying it at the parts counter.

My 5.7 Tundra has the canister filter; can't seem to find anything about how this "spin-on filter" actually fits onto where the canister shell is. I remember when older vehicles with canister oil filters used to be able to attach an "adapter plate" that mounted to & replaced the canister. This presented a base/platform to screw the spin-on filter to. Anyone know about such "an adapter" for our 5.7 engines??

Thanks for the tip but I have yet to see where the oil filter is at. I don't have a plate either to block my way.

Check out this post. It shows where everything is with the skid plate off, in addition to step-by-step instrucktions.

Lots of thanks to the member who posted it as a lot of us have used this great, very detailed info.

That was a question I had as well. I'll e-mail Spraks tech department to see if there's some sore of adapter plate.

Thanks I did see that part and I wasn't sure if that was it. I definitely don't have a skid plate. I guess they wanted me to do this by not having one or the mechanic never put it back on.

I just spoke with Sparks TRD part department and they are not sure if it is a direct replacement or if it need an adapter. I gave him the tundratalk.net website and he saw the posting and is going to check out the oil filter that is posted. I explained that we have a lot of members that would like to purchase but we need to know if there is an adapter required.
