Just a heads up, I ordered the factory brushed stainless tube steps after I purchased the truck. I ordered right, left, and hardware kit. I opened everything up on the driveway today and was scratching my head on how to attach the tube steps to the frame. Then it dawned on me, where's the brackets? I called the online dealer who noticed there's a bracket kit that isn't posted on the site. No idea how much this gem is going to cost me, looks like no step rails for another week or so.

I'm trying to work through this with the online dealer/retailer, just looking to have as much info as possible to get the right parts. I was surprised and disappointed the brackets were not in the tube rail or hardware kits. My tube steps have the stamped U-nuts to attache the brackets. The hardware kit only consisted of 16 bolts, no nuts. Hence my assumption, re-use the bolts in the frame, attach brackets to rails using 2 bolts/bracket, would work out to four brackets per side. If the brackets should have come with the rails, I'm going to seriously discuss whether or not I should have to pay for them separately. The factory tube steps have cost me $675 so far. I'm going to give the online dealer a chance to work this out, no bashing. Thanks! |

I remember reusing some of the bolts I removed from the truck to install the brackets but you are right there are four brackets per side. Unfortunantly, I can't find that list of what was included and I do not know if the brackets had seperate part numbers but I took a picture of the first bracket for you, it has some numbers on it. Excuse the poor quality ![]() And here's another poor shot of the brackets. ![]() I'll dig through my toolbox at work tomorrow and see if I can find that install sheet with all the part numbers on it for you and look more closely at the other brackets to see if they have numbers or a part number on them somewhere. However, I do remember the part number for my steps: PT212-3407D (I have a Crewmax)...and I don't want to pun your dealer but I only paid $560 something for my steps ![]()

Mickey, I'll post pics once installed.
I'm slightly disappointed pricing information conveyed in a PM made it into a post. Perhaps I overpaid. Yes, they got me for an additional $50 for the brackets on top of the other costs. It will factor in to my decision for future business. I'm looking forward to installing the steps, the brackets should be here before the weekend. |

hypersonic, glad you were able to get the brackets. At least you'll be able to install them on your truck. You will love them, makes getting in and out so much easier.

I just bought my 2008 Tundra SR5 double cab a couple of weeks ago, and I really love it. One option that I should have added was the tube steps. I see that some of you have ordered and installed the tube steps yourself. Can you tell me the best place to order these parts? Was the installation difficult? Was there any drilling or welding involved?

Great looking polish job on your step rails.
Nice job polishing those rails! Looks great!
Tundrajohn, Installation is a no-brainer the truck is predrilled tapped and already has the fasteners installed for the step brackets. The step brackets are bolted to the frame, then the rails bolted to the brackets, very simple and straight forward job. I'd look into the forum sponsors, and compare their prices. |
