Hey guys.. I have a decision to make. I am getting my bed and bumpers Line-X'd and I need to decide which colors to go with. The bed is easy.. I am going with the standard black for the bed.
I want to add fender flares (probably bushwacker) to the mix and get those line-x'd while I am at it.. but this causes a problem for be because I don't know which color combination to go with between the bumpers and the flares.
I have been planning on color matching the bumpers white and doing the flares black.. but should I do both black or both white? I feel like the way the flare ends right before the bumper cover would look odd black on white.. am I over thinking it?
Here is what the truck looks like now.. sort of a black and white theme already.. what do you guys think? I also added a more close up pic but with different rims that I don't have anymore.. currently have the black and gun metal Fuel Trophy 20s.
You already have color-matched grille surround. I vote for color-matching both bumper and flares. The color match will not be exact, but I think they will add to your truck.
Looks like all white is the popular vote.. I like the all white too, I had just been planning on doing the flares black all along until I started thinking about how it would look because of the way the flare ends right next to the white.
I guess they all use the rubber boot behind it so I will still get some of that black on white accessory look anyway.
The bed will look fine. However the uv coated flares on a white ford I saw looked wayyy out of place. Kinda like over shined linex on flares. And with our white tundras you know how hard it is to keep our paint shiny unless we do corrections every 6 months. The color setup I have now has been my favorite. Have had it both ways and the white flares and black bumpers have been the best. To much dirt shows on bumpers so I bed lined them black fixed that and I liked the white flares and black bolt look so I did that. But here's an all white setup I had on my truck without flares
had the white headlight mod as well which in about to do again I miss it. You can kinda get an idea of what the white bumpers will look like if you go that route. Here's an all white with my old grille
also had the white smooth flares in this pic. So basically you can see all three options from my one truck lol
Lol you bet man!! And yea I'm going to do my best to stay with this setup except changing the heads back to white. I'm done removing my bumpers and flares lol good luck and post pics!!
Well I had the it done last weekend. I decided to hold off on the fender flares all together for now, I'll get them later on for a birthday present or something.
Turned out great! The color match is on point with the bumpers, and I think spraying the skid plate in white adds a little uniqueness.
Im going to do that friday as well. I want to do the front/rear bumper, grille and the chrome trim around the grille. Im nervous cause i have not even had the truck a month yet and i dont want it to look bad, but i have seen some black tundras like mine that have it and they look really good so hopefully itll look good on mine as well. Yours looks great though man
I got my bumpers and flares rhino lined in color matching material. Love the way it all turned out. I know it's not line x but showing was all color matched looks like.
If you are willing to drive to Corpus, give them a call and ask them for the grand opening discount. I think its something like 10% off but don't quote me on that.
So I'm debating it now. I know when it's first applied it's nice and dark. But I'm worried over time it'll get dull. I saw some pics of people with black tundras and the line x the bumper and it started to look like the faded plastics on an avalanche. I don't want it to look like that. Is it typical for them to fad? Is there a way to keep them looking like new or polish up the color when it fades?
If you just get the base level spray, yes it fades to a flat black color. On my bed I got the premium level spray (which is just a top clear coat with UV protection) which will keep the glossy black color.. so I am told.
I started my Linex party with the front and rear bumpers, and the front grill. Looks great and people stop me all the time wanting to know all about it. I think the quarter-panels, pinch weld, and wheel wells (moving to Alaska again) are next.
Thanks! I think it turned out great too. The linex is shiny black and looks clean no matter what I do to it. I really dig it. Cant wait to do the quarter panels/pinch weld & wheel wells (for $600 well worth it dollars)
