So i checked the mail today and there was my package of led's waiting for me. i was just surprised from the packaging they use... its super thin... but it is padded.
EDIT:
I finally got around to changing out my led's. It took me all day to get it done. Thanks to Tox's GREAT write up and for his help today through pm's I got everything done. The first time I tried I couldnt get any leds off cause for some reason the iron I bought SUCKED! So I bought another one and it worked like a charm. Only took seconds to get the led's off. I still need to change the led's behind the needles but I only have 9 left over and I think I need 10 from what I coutned. (I ordered 40 for the gauges and a/c panel)
But anyways it is pretty easy after u get the first couple off. It gets pretty easy as your going through it.
The only pointers I would give out are:
- When heating the amber led to remove it, hold it and pull on it with ur tweezers or choice of tool. This way u wont have to look super close or guess if the solder is melted.
- When u remove the needles try not to twist when pulling them off. (Thats where I messed up) I didnt realize I was turning the needle from the point I marked to put it where it started. I found out the hard way cause when I put the needles back on (making sure it was pointing to my mark) some of them were off (due to me twistin when i pulled them off) But if for some reason they are still off, put ur needle on, turn it all the way to the left, and then try to pull off with out twisting. then place it to match ur marks.
Anyways, even though uve seen the white led swap before, here are my pix. =] enjoy!
