Lights behind the grill on '09

I'd like to install the lights behind the grill on my tundra, can anyone recommend a brand or company that makes lights for this application with the switch, mounting brackets, and relay? I'm also wanting to install a bull bar with lights, can anyone recommend a brand/company they like?

I'm planning to install HID's in all these new installs.

Thanks,

Is that all??

I believe Stillen makes a grille kit that inlcudes lights/grille/wiring harness/etc.... However, it has cutouts for the lights on the grille and I don't believe they are HID. An HID light is going to be tricky to fit back there since the casing is typically a little deeper than most standard lights. See the link below

Street Scene's new 2007-2008 Toyota Tundra Custom Grille - Product SpotLight - Truck Trend

If you want to go the DIY route...do a search for Toxarch. He has a thread somewhere around here where he made his own bracket for the "lights behind the grille" trick. I'm planning on doing something similar w/ HIDs (if they fit) in the near future. So stay tuned.

I think Stillen's lights are mounted in the grill as one big piece. You open the hood and those lights go up with it. But they are the only big company that I know of that makes one right now.

HIDs are going to be hard to fit behind the grill. I used halogen lights for mine and it's pretty tight trying to fit them between my aftermarket grill and the radiator. I guess you could do smaller HID lights and get them to fit, but I prefer the larger lights. Mine are Hella Rallye 4000 lights (euro beam) which are 8.75" diameter. The lights almost touch the grill (mounted as far out as possible) and they are 2" from the radiator (I think). I also had to redesign the hood safety release because the original was in the way.

Be careful being such a good guy and informative. I have heard of people being banned from forums for that.

A cheap picture is better than no picture.

It's not cheap, but even doing your own isn't going to save any money. Trust me, I know. Aftermarket grill is about $125, maybe more. Good set of lights is around $200+/- for the pair. Price goes way up if you want HIDs. Materials to make the bracket is probably around $30 or so. That price goes up if someone else makes it for you. Add in a wiring harness for another $30 or so. So the DIY route might end up a better product in the end, but it's going to cost more to do it yourself.

i think it would be better to do it your self. you get more of a customized feel. hard to get hid's with a factory grille/light combo from stillen

my lights came out to $180... spent like $20 on material, $46 on a wiring harness and like $4 on a spray can for the logo.. so $250 total... i kept the stock grill so thats where my savings were. And of course you can't put a price on pride and peace of mind that you did a secure job!
