I cut the brown wire on the very far right in the loom in the driver side sill. Cargo light still comes on. Wrong wire? I was told in another thread this was the right one.
1. What are you trying to do?
2. What year Tundra? You have a 2010 in your sig.
3. Never cut completely just tap into the wire.
4. Are you holding the wire bundle that's inside the driver side rear passenger sill?
I'm assuming you're trying to run some step lighting or bed lighting that comes on and goes off when you open your doors. On my 2012 it was the thinnest brown wire. On the 14's and up I think the wire is a different color.
I have a write-up on this if you search for my name.
Thanks for the reply. I was trying to tie my bumper backup lights into the cargo lamp, so when cargo lamps come on, the backup lights would come on. It seemed easier than running wires and relays and a separate switch. It is a 2010 and that is the harness in the drivers side sill. I originally tapped into that wire but as I got no power to double check my diode direction, I assumed it had not connected properly. I guess I should trust them more. I had posted that pic earlier and was told that was the correct wire, but it is not - obviously. Will look at my loom closer for another brown wire.
The back up lights are working fine as they are tapped into my trailer plug. I was just trying to wire it so when the cargo lamp cut on, via switch on panel or open door, the back up lights would come on also. I am running a wire from cargo lamp power wire to backup lights power wire (passenger side kick panel) to power backup lights when cargo lamp is powered. I have two diodes to keep power from backtracking thru other circuit.
I only cut the cargo lamp wire as I thought the wire tap connector was not working properly. I cut the wire and spliced the wire (with diode) going to backup lights to it. At least that was the plan. Obviously I do not have the right wire as I was not getting power to diode to test directionality.
According to the '14-'15 wiring diagram that I have the wire color is still brown, same as it is on my '07. Must be there's another brown one in that bundle somewhere?

I did get it to work, but only for a short time. I cannot remember which wire I used to get it to work though. It only worked for less than 2 days and then stopped. I don't know if the diode I used failed or my wiring connections. It is on my winter list of projects, so I will try to update once I get it fixed. Good luck with yours
