How to clean inside of tail light lens??

I was changing the bulbs on my trucks tail lights and I noticed the old bulbs had a thin layer of dust on them which is surprising as I thought they were sealed but I guess over time some dirt gets in. So I want to clean the inside of the lens for the tail light and turn signal. Im going to try inserting cotton swabs/Qtips to clean the inside lens. Anyone ever done this??
