I did not intall or click on the Video guide(for 64bit)

Your antivirus software might come on and detect a trugan horse. I disabled it before I began. No problems that I can see by doing this. Do so at your own risk. :nerd:

this seller has the cable and software

If you have a machine that has XP drivers, which many of the newer one don't.
You could install the 32 bit version of 7 and I think that will work.
I also though you'd need a XP licence if you run the virtual pc in XP mode.
Using a older pc is low tech and doable by more people.

What I think is funny about this is I bought the laptop specifically for the TIS website and and it meets there requirements but it does meet the hacked TIS techstream software requirements, so I am considering loging into the TIS website for two days for $15 just to download the true techstream cable driver. Will this work?

So what all does this TechStream do? Can you control engine stuff like Idle Speed and what not?

I don't believe you can do that Josh, it is mainly just basic "nice to have" stuff. I have only spent a little time in the software since I installed it but some of the things I changed included:

- Changed it so that one press of unlock button on key fob unlocks all doors
- Disabled seat belt chime for both driver and passenger side
- Performed zero point calibration reset
- Setup so that turning key to the left (while in the drivers door) opens the sunroof

I know there is also a lot of information with regard to the various sensors, meaning you can get accurate temp readings and what not on just about anything. You can also play around with the TPMS settings, read and reset codes, etc. I am sure there is a lot I have yet to touch on but those are some basics.

Nice! I really hope this works because I bought all new sensors and it didn't do crap... I'll definitely be ordering the cable once I am home tonight

Since there are so many people who want to run Techstream on Windows 7 (64 bit in particular) I have decided to devote some time in the near future to see what I might be able to work out. Personally, I have no issues running it in XP Mode, however, I know that Windows 8 does not support XP Mode and, likely, if I can get it running in Windows 7 then it will likely also run in Windows 8. I will keep this thread updated with any progress made.

If anyone has the driver(s) from the actual Techstream software (not the hacked version) that would be a great help.

HELP!!! I need to disable my factory alarm on my 2010 5.7 Limited DC because it interferes with my Viper remote start. I do not have the "Option Setup" menu that the Security On/Off option hides under. I have a different Security section that allows me to turn on/off the glass break sensor, alarm horn, and alarm lights flashing, but I don't have the menu to turn the entire alarm off.

I hooked up my Techstream system to my buddies 2012 Tundra, and I see the menu called Option Setup that I am missing... has anyone experienced this? Any ideas of how I can get around this? Thank you.

Ok, quick question. I've read all 37 pages of this and while I've learned a lot about what Techstream can do........ do I download the program or do I have to buy it somewhere? I've seen the link for the cable but I'm unsure where exactly to get the program.

Thanks!

unable to connect techstream on Previa

Dear Techstream experts,
I need some help please. My techstream works on my friend's Aygo but won't connect on my Previa. after having tried to connect (and failed) a windows is open, offering to select a model but even selecting the Previa's model (CLR) it won't work either.

Do you guys have the solution to this?

thank you very much for your help!

The chances are about 99% that your problem is with the device driver for the cable. It must be installed in 32 bit Windows. That means you have to have either a 32 bit copy of Windows XP or install it in XP mode under Windows 7.
Re-installing the Techstream program probably won't do anything for you, but re-installing the device driver might. If the error message is "Unable to Connect to VM", it is the device driver.
You can switch between North America and Europe in the Setup/Techstream Configuration tab. I have not seen much difference other than the display format and the fact that Europe leaves out some functions.

what do I need in terms of software and hardware to obtain techstream?

#570 ·
When you open Techstream, there is a Setup tab at the top of the screen.
One of the Setup options is Techstream Configuration. You can select Japan, North America, or Europe.

While looking at some screen shots from other people, it seems as though the software I have is much different. It isn't even called Techstream? The cd I received looks the same but it seems as though the software is different, any ideas?
