i keep my CDs in there, as well as my iPod, a tire gauge, and a couple of comic books on occasion. i have a large CD case that holds about 40 of them in their cases. Call me old fashioned but i prefer to leave the CDs in their cases so they don't get scratched. That has to be one of the largest center consoles i've ever seen.........

Unless they actually have your truck in a warehouse. And are willing to use a diamond saw blade. Hacking up your center console & the safe. Pretty damn safe.

You would need ample time & serious tools to get inside it.
They now have a combination version, if you don't want the keyed version.

I have the combo lock console safe- works well. I use it to lock my air taser and ipod up when at school or down town.

You'd need time and serious (loud!) tools to get into one- neither of which a smash and grab crook has lots of.

Window tinting is another good idea- smash the window? Still going to have a tough time getting in!

wtf is an air taser? so you are saying warren beatys mod is less secure then the combo lock console. I wish i could see one in person, so i could bang on it to test it, cause you know if you bang on it and it feels solid then its solid lol. Let me see some pics saki........

I got nothing... drive a short distance to work everyday, don't really need to stuff it with anything.

Hell I have everything including the kitchen sink... A berrita when in the correct states... binocs, power converter, God only knows... I still have to go back though all the cubby holes and re-arrange better...

What I thought was a joke the cubby under the drink tray and beside the shifter... turns out it fits my escort 9500xi and gps perfect in Crown Royal bags!!!

With a gun SAFE pros and cons:

pros: secure (hell secure)
really secure
need i say mucho secure?
uber secure
hard and sturdy
equipped with a lock
unstealable unless the thief took the whole truck
amazingly secure

cons: slow recovery in an event of emergency
not insconpicous
takes your whole center consoles space
not james bondy like
thieves attention attractant (oooh shiny safe - i wonder what's in it)

Warrenbeaty's mod pros and cons:

Pro's: Fast recovery in the event of an emergency
Superbly insconpicous
Center console is 100% usable with the center stupid plastic intact
A friend cop who I told that there is a deadly weapon inside the truck couldn't find it.
Does not warrant any more attraction from thieves if truck is intruded.
modifiable to your own configuration.

Con's: Not a safe. (though you could always put a gun-lock to it if you feel unsafe)

Bottom line is: Both are good. It's the matter of what makes you feel secure and safe.

^^ very good consumer reports write up Warren. When i am driving i am packing in my belt. I feel that you would have only a second or two to react, especially the roads that i am driving on, so i would not want to take the extra time to get into the center console to retrieve my heat..........

Another pro to a safe is that it's more... safe. It prevents kids, drunk friends, and other hazards from finding your gun and doing something stupid with it. I keep mine by the bed in a safe to make sure the kids don't stumble onto it. I can still get it out pretty quickly but I sacrifice some speed for safety.

With the console safes, how are they attached to the truck? It since the console is plastic it seems like a thief could just rip any screws or bolts out of the plastic and take the whole safe with them.
