Fyi

Went camping this weekend with the family and dogs. I coach my 7 year old son's skeeter baseball team and we had a game Saturday. When we got back to the campsite my son asked me what was on his seat. To my horror, he had sat in some bubblegum at the game which was now buried into my seat of my 2008 tundra with only 2000 miles on it. If your seat cloth is like mine, there are millions of square dimples all over. Looks nice but sure traps crap like gum making it hard to get out it. My wife put a bag of ice over the gum as I guess it is suppose to make the gum easier to pick off. However, she just couldn't get the gum out of the tiny square dimples and I was starting to panic. She had one last resort to try. To my surprise she got out the can of peanut butter. Yes, peanut butter. She smeared it all over the gum. It took several layers and some patience but I will be darned if it didn't remove all the gum. A quick wash of soap and water afterwards to get rid of the peanut butter residue and I will darned if you can't tell where it happened. Keep that little bit of info in the back of your mind if you ever need it in a pinch.

Good info. Mother taught me that after I stuck gum in her new carpet, let me tell you I was not happy trying to get gum out, first ice, then peanut butter, so i've learned. I purchased a steam cleaner. My son threw up in the back seat, luckily it was Gatorade, and easy to clean out.

I'm married but I'm glad with no twins. This is the first time I've heard of peanut butter to get gum out hopefully I'll never have to try it.

De-Solv-It works wonders on gum too, and removes the sticky adhesive residue from tape or CD labels

3M makes an even better adhesive remover, but I can never find it. They sell De-solv-it at the local supermarket.

I already ordered seat covers for mine, esp since I'm filthy sometimes after working on the job site
