Little orange light??

For the first time since I got her, I drove my truck in the dark last night. When I turned on my headlights, I noticed a little orange light that comes out from the center console emitting very soft light towards the cup holders. What is this light for? Is it maybe for showing you where your cup is located, if you can't see it due to darkness?
Just wondering.

Actually that first "cup holder" was designed as the area to place the ashtray. While most of us do use it as a third drink holder, my Tundra came with a little ashtray with lid that fits in this hole. The ambient light is so you can see the ashtray.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not being a smoker, I was unaware of their needs

well i use it to hold bottled water, because the actual cupholders are kind of large and the bottle flops around. this hole is perfect for it. at night the amber light illuminates the bottle, makes it easy to find.

I changed mine to blue. Stuck my phone in the cup holder last night and the glass face reflected the light right into my face. Guess I won't be sticking my phone in there too much at night.

They made the cupholders so big cause so many people drink those huge like 70 ounce soda/slurpees. LOL. ya kinda sucks for every one else though.

I also use my ashtray for change, I also did it on my Celica since it tucks in to the console, I also used it as a drivers license holder, but that didn't work out so well, since it bent it at the end, and it wont go back.

I used to cut a piece of carpet (from car stereo shops) to fit in all my ash trays- it keeps your change from rattling around too much.

I got lazy to do it since I bought my tacoma, which I just sold when I got the tundra. It works well though

I put my satellite radio in that space, my change goes in the little compartment in the door. There is also a light on the bottom of your rearview mirror as well.

I put my change in that little crack below the shifter. I couldn't figure out what else I would put in there. It make a nice change holder, but it does look a little messy. I find that the ashtray holder make a great water bottle/dip bottle holder.

i hate the cluttered look. I was so pumped about all of the compartments when I bought my Tundra but I am a minimalist and can not stand anything in the compartments. I have one chapstick in the center console and my IPOD in a mount in the first large cup holder. Other than that there is NOTHING in my truck??? I am going the buy the under seat storage to hide some things. FREAK...I know!
