Driver Door Speaker

Anyone have trouble with theirs? Sometimes, not always, my driver side door speaker will rattle badly on music with deep bass even with the bass set at zero on my radio control. It will even do it on am talk radio stations. It has done it since I have brought home off the show room floor. The problem is, is that it doesn't do it very consistantly. It can go days without doing it and I am afraid that when I take it back to the dealer it won't do it and they will think I am crazy. Any one else have any problems with theirs?

I know this is going to come across as a smart@ss comment, but do you have anything in the storage at the bottom of the door? My kids put things in there from time to time and it makes noise.

I have the same problem...although I had my bass setting at 5, and turned it down back to 0, and still get a little once in while. I've had the truck a couple of months. That said, I do have a little ice scraper in the door compartment, so I'm going to check to see if maybe that's rattling (although I doubt it)...

the factory speakers are absolute crap. Case in point: Pics of the crappy stock speakers in the non JBL models - Tundra Solutions Forum

I replaced mine a few months ago... could not believe how bad the stock speakers were. I hear the JBL ones are quite a bit better though.

thanks for the replies guys. The noise isn't from something in the tray. I am very confident it is the speaker rattling. The funny thing is that the frequency of it happening is getting less and less. I have never heard of a speaker needing a break in period.

Speakers actually do need a break in period - anytime you buy a set of new speakers, the sound changes over time to a softer, less sharp noise. This is due to the material that holds the speaker cone becoming softer.

When I bought my Bose system, the sound was exceptionally sharp, unbearable - so much so that I actually took it back - the guy explained that after a few months the sound softens out - which it did.
