It plugs into
...the OBDII scanner port just on the underside of the dash beneath the steering wheel. I don't recall how long the cable for the tool is - probably something around 4 feet. One end has the OBDII port, the other is an RJ45. On the ScanGaugeII there are two RJ45 female ports. One on the back (the one I'm using) and one on the right side. You can use either depending on how/where you mount it.

the scangaugeII sounds friggin awesome. like someone else said a real eye opener. do any machanics on here know if tapping into the wires behind the obdII plug will affect anything? i just want to be able to hardwire the bitch and be done with it. and to still be able to leave the plug open for a programmer if anyone ever comes out with it. i do custom fabrication so once i install it. its installed

I'm not an expert at this OBDII stuff, but I think it's a slave/host communication protocol, which means without some sort of a hub system, you'll likely only be able to connect one device at a time - regardless of how you make the electrical connection.
That being said, the ScanGaugeII cable is designed to pop off without harming the vehicle, gauge, or data stored. The 90° plug ensures that it's completely out of sight. When the mechanic wants to put his on, he'd simply remove the plug and put his own on. BTW, the thing reads out the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) which you can research w/google, and clear to turn off the check engine light. Might just not need the mechanic. |
