BTW, that's an aftermarket GPS I have mounted to the A pillar... It's not part of the Limited package. And the engine wasn't running for these pics, which is why you see all the idiot lights on. The gauges were a large part of the reason I opted to get the Limited. If they'd have offered them as an accessory I'd have gotten an SR-5. Toyota is smart... They dangle the eye candy in front of you and only let you have it if you opt to drop a few more grand.

It's a permanent mount Nuvi offers on their website, but don't buy it there as you can get it $10 cheaper elsewhere... Here I just did a search, Amazon has it for $20 bucks.
Amazon.com: Garmin Automotive Mount for Nuvi (010-10723-04): Electronics The mount comes with two different types of double stick mounting tape for the bracket. A semi-permanent tape and a permanent. Because of the curve of the A-pillar molding, neither one will work even though the base is shaped like an oval and isn't as wide as the round suction cup base plate that comes with the unit. I got it to work by applying the permanent tape, then I cut two extra layers of 3-M automotive mounting tape to match the outline of the base. I then applied these to each vertical side of the base before pressing it onto the A-pillar molding. This makes the mounting tape higher on each vertical side than it is in the middle, and better matches the curve of the molding. It worked very well and is stuck on there tight. Just make sure you clean the area with rubbing alcohol, and I'd suggest running your windshield defroster on high heat to warm-up the A-pillar first. Then press the base on hard and hold it for about 60 seconds.

Modifying the gauge lights?
I have the 2008 SR5 (all orange gauges) and am very instrested in changing my gauge lights to the lights found on the limited. A friend of mine is a mechanic for Toyota and can order me parts for his cost. He also can help me install them, which a big plus! I am just trying to figure out how much something like this would cost and also if it is even something that can be done? Does anyone know more about this sort of thing? I appreciate the help.
Thanks! Philip |

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. We appreciate you contacting us with your inquiry. As the Optitron gauges are only offered on the 2007 Tundra Double Cab Limited V8, they are not available or can they be upgraded on the 2007 Tundra CrewMax SR5. The Limited and SR5 are different models, and the wiring harness for them are not the same. Toyota does not recommend modifying its vehicles from their original factory specifications. Modifications could affect the vehicle’s performance, safety or durability, and may violate government regulations. In addition, damage or performance problems resulting from the modification may not be covered under warranty. If it is determined that the computer reprogramming, to accommodate a switch for the instrument clusters, was the root cause of any future concerns the repair would not be covered under warranty. Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters under file #200710290332. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us. Ryan" from t-solutions[/quote] I would love to change out the LEDs. How would you go about doing that? |
