Speedometer

Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between speedometers of the 2wd vs 4wd model? Also, any difference between the speedometer of a 4.7 vs 5.7L?
Many thanks for any help.

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking...if you are asking about discrepancies, or if you are talking about the gauge type. There are no differences in 2WD or 4WD models, but 4.7 and 5.7 models are different. The 5.7, when equipped with the tow package, has the trans temp gauge under the tachometer, but the 4.7 doesn't get that. Also, the SR5 uses the standard orange LED lit gauges whereas the Limited trim gets nice and fancy white back lit Optitron gauges...

speedo

That helps. What I was wondering was if they are interchangeable. It sounds like they may not be due to the different temp guage. If anyone knows for sure if you can put the 4.7 one in place of a 5.7, I would appreciate the info.

I don't know for sure, but guys have been wanting to do it. I would imagine that the sensors are the same, so the tranny temp gauge should work if you switched to the 5.7 gauge set. One thing we have found out, though, is you supposedly can't switch from the Orange LED lit ones (on base and SR5) to the Optitrons (that are on the Limited).
