A/C Vent loose
Hi,
I traded out of my 05 Tundra Dbl Cab for an 07 Dbl cab a couple of days ago so I am still in the honeymoon stage with a mixture of separation anxiety!! I really loved my old truck but the rebate and the power of the new Tundra won me over, a few beers didn't hurt either!!I noticed that the a/c vent to the right of the panel keeps pointing up and is too loose to maintain the height position it is adjusted too. Anyone else have this problem? I have bucket seats without Nav or a lot of the add-on options. I know I can bring it to the dealer as a warranty repair but I try to avoid giving them the opportunity to screw something up. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hmmm, I guess this is one of those "new-design" problems. I usually avoid the first year new or redesigned models but felt safe with Toyota.

I'm having the same problem with the vent that's on the driver's right side next to the stereo as well. All the other vents are fine, but this one will be pointed at the ceiling within a couple of minutes of adjusting it.
Luckily, it's the only problem I've had so far.

Well, I came up with a somewhat pathetic patch just to keep the vent where I want it. I'll either pretty this one up or come up with something better in the future.
I just took an electrical alligator clip, aka roach clip for those of you from the 60's , and wrapped the knarled ends with elctrical tape so it would not damage the plastic. It worked fine on the way back to work it just looks like crap in a 2 day old truck!! I'm gonna call the deal now and see what they say.

I called the Dealer and the Service Rep said that he has seen it before but not a lot, I wonder how many is a lot??? Anyway, he said to bring it in and they would order the part.
I'm not thrilled with having them pull the panel apart since I don't want to create any rattles or squeaks. Oh well, I'm gonna see if I can come up with a better temporary solution to the alligator clip.

Same for me, it friggin' drives me crazy. I only seem to notice it wandering up when I have the air on full blast.

My dealer (Texas Toyota) replaced mine twice. Same problem each time. I've tried to reduce the flow by closing the supply and that helps somewhat. I think i will wait a few months and see if they have a fix for this vent. All others hold their position. You're right, very annoying. I have a DC Limited 5.7 and this is the olny problem I've found.

I had this problem on my CRWMX Limited and the dealership that I took it too in Arlington, Tx said that they had replaced over 50 of them so far. It seems to be a pretty big problem. they cannot just order the vent, the entire dash has to be ordered. My dealership just removed the old vent and replaced with new vent assembly and gave me the rest of the new dash for future parts. This problem is bad enough that the dash panels were on back order for two weeks at the time that I took mine in.

I had the same problem. Took it to the dealer and he "fixed" it. Then it was so tight you couldn't move it. Took it back again, now it is "acceptable" but could be better. Now my E-flasher doesn't work. Tired of having my dash removed.
