Seatbelt Chime

I was just messing around with the CD that came with my Tundra DC and in the section for gauges and Toyota Adjustable Warning Indicators I found that the passenger side seatbelt chime can be disable through the dealer. I am guessing they just plug in their computer and go to the appropriate menu and just turn it off. Couldn't find it for the driver's side though. I accidently bumped into this while I was trying to make it so my keyless entry opened all my doors on the first button click. This as well as many other features all can be done by the dealer. I figure I will adjust a few on my first oil change scheduled for 5k miles. Lets see, had the truck 2 weeks yesterday and now 914 miles. Looks like I have over a month to figure out what else I want them to do.

Having the dealer do this certainly won't change any warranty issues and shouldn't piss off the insurance companies either. As a Toyota option, I am sure it will not effect passenger side airbag deployment. As for the dealers who said it was illegal, well . . . . I think you get the picture.

And of course, always wear your seatbelts. I have seen over and over again what happens when you don't. Remember, airbags only work for the first crunch during an accident and you decide to bounce off a few items they have deflated nearly as quickly as they inflate.

Help.

I went through this mod for both driver and passenger seatbelts. I cannot get the passenger airbag to come on with a passenger sitting there buckled in even after putting the tape on the slider to hold it down.

IS there something I am doing wrong?

Can somebody also explain how the passenger airbag, which works by sensing weight in the passenger seat, works with the seatbelt sensor? In other words, in stock form, the weight sensor knew someone was sitting in the seat and then made the seatbelt warning go off if it was not buckled. Now that the seatbelt warning is disabled, how does the airbag still not come on regardless of if the buckle is used or not?

My dog sets-off the chime and I just can't get him to buckle-up. So I just drive and the chime stops soon enough. Why all the fuss?

So is my brain. My free will. My judgment. At work, sometimes I need to drive around to the back lot. Never exceed 20 mph, no traffic, but it's over a 1/4 mile, all private property. No need for seatbelts, no need for my truck to be my nanny.
After leaving the gym, I sometimes drive over to the supermarket. Across the street. One parking lot to the next. Never get to 20mph, but just fast enough to set off that alarm.

When I hit the road, I buckle up. It's not rocket science. It's stupid to do otherwise. But I don't need an onboard nanny to nag me about it. I thought that Liberal crap went out of style with Jimmy Carter.

Thank you. Couldn't have said it any better myself.

My jobs requires me to use my Tundra on company property and check progress of our shipping and trucking, etc. It is on private property, making constant stops and never exceding 20 mph at the most. The seat belt chime is a pain in the a$$ for me as well as my passengers while doing this.

I normally use my seatbelt on the road.

I will disable this function.

I work in the oil industry too and I always wear my seatbelt but I got to admit that the chiming is very annoying when you are simply driving a few hundred feet,

The chime is as equivalent to annoying female. After a while it goes in one ear and comes out the other without being processed.
