New 2010 Tundra DC 5.7 Mileage...

Hi All!

Great forum here! Just have to ask though, my mileage on my Tundra is at 13.7 and holding, according to the average MPG indicator on the center of the upper dash. Does this seem normal? Even on a semi-long trip it only goes to about 13.9. I know I'm not laying into the pedal too much... any thoughts on this? There's about 2000 miles on it now. Could it be a computer problem making it run too rich or something? I can live with the fact that in order to produce 381 HP it's gotta cost you... as long as my mileage is in the norm, I'm all good... but I'm just checking in with everyone to see what everyone else is getting for MPG. Thanks Everyone!!!

thats an average of your MPGs... if you want it accurate, calculate your mileage by hand. fill up your tank completely... reset your trip ODO... take your trip (either city or highway) and then fill your tank up again and then divide mileage/fuel you just put in. This method will be much more accurate then your cpu

I am in the same boat. I am averaging 13ish according to the cpu. I reset it every fill up. Towing is averaging 8 MPG. I keep hearing people on hear stating much higher numbers and I am just trying to find out if those are exaggerations or if there is something wrong with my Tundra.

I am ok with the results, unless everyone else is averaging 10+ towing and 15+ under normal driving!!

A Huge Thank You!!

Thanks Guys!! I appreciate the feedback... looks like I'm not that far off. BTW, I did switch to PP 5W-20 instead of my old standby, Mobil 1... The PP got some real good press by some reputable sources. LOVE MY TUNDRA!!!!

P.S. Anyone upgrade to the stiffer sway bar? If you did, did your local Toyota Dealer install it? Thanks Forum!!! We Drive the BEST!!!

My CPU reading about 14.9 mpg but I'm really light on the throttle. Note that winter gas kills the fuel economy in any vehicle.

A few miles per gallon difference also depends like said on more ethanol/winter blend put in the gas mixture here in the midwest states and others along with the coldness out bringing gas mileage down 2-4 mpg. I use to average 17 mpg mostly hwy before the winter set it a few weeks ago but now here in cold winter of WI with winter blend gas, it is now averaging 14 mpg mostly hwy.

2007 SR5 DC 4x4 with 5.7. Bought it two months ago with 13000 miles. Put 2198 mile on it using 130.719 gallons equals 16.81 MPG. About the same as my 2001 F-150 supercab 4x4 with the 4.6.

Mileage will vary depending on the load, driving conditions (city, highway), 4WD usage, climate, elevation. I notice in the winter mine gets worse gas mileage but I also leave my truck running alot and I also let it warm up for 10 minutes in the mornings before leaving for work.

Just put the first full tank of fuel in mine, ... 13.1

Glad I didn't buy this for the MPG! Still, I want better! Hopefully, my next tank will be better considering break-in and all.
