Unfortunately every forum eventually gets like that. Especially info sites like these where people just sign up to get a question answered and never intend on coming back. Then theres always the people that just don't give a damn about following the rules.
I hate to say this but thats not true. A well run and maintained forum will monitor and delete the junk and coach the newb's.
The problem with TT is there is no Administration at hand when they're needed. Admin are the only ones with total control of the VBulletin program and without that the site easily goes to hell!
The moderators here kick ass but without more control its hard to keep up.

I do agree that well controlled forums have less problems, but when you have 20 people that come in and start 20 new threads asking the same question it gets redundant no matter who has control. Just about every forum that I've been a member of from VW, Mazda, Dodge, not to mention the newbs at various sportbike forums, have all have the problem of repetition due to the non use of the search function or even just time scrolling down the page. Even forums which the members themselves coach the newbs in every thread, still have people asking the same thing over and over. I've just learned to live with it, and make sure not to do it myself. I don't even have a Tundra yet, but I'm here learning so when I do, I'm not starting a bunch of crap threads .

I wish everyone was as knowledgable as you my friend!
The problem with the search is when you type in for example "Black headlight mod" You get every thing with each word. My head exploded trying to find it. I didnt want to ask about it since Ive had so many other new posts. So if mine ran you off, I'll stop. You can come back now...
If you guys think about it... If everyone just searched for the answer to their questions (since they have all been answered) there would be very little conversation here. There is a finite number problems and questions people can have about the Tundra. If there is a perceived problem with newbies posting the same old questions then we have at leaste 3 options, We can greet them as fellow Tundra owners and show them the way we want to operate the forum, we cam avoid getting involved in the tired old discussions or we can just leave the forum all together. I hope that we would all chose to do the first....
I'm sorry to everyone, cause I myself may be guilty of starting repeat threads. I absoulty love this site and my wife/friends know it. I ask that we keep TT going, but I will also help to control myself and guide others! This has been a very helpful forum and I hope it sticks around as long as my Tundra does!

I gotta agree, the search is worthless. At the very least a site search should support an option to only show results that have ALL your keywords., and the option to search for a specific phrase.
Its the only search tool I've used where I couldn't use the "+" parameter to only show results that contained that keyword, the "-" parameter to exclude results that contained that keyword and quotes to search for an exact phrase.
Without these basic tools you are just p!$$ing in the wind. You can't blame newb's for not searching when they don't have the tools to search with - just my 2 cents. and, "Made in Great Britain" LOL

Ummm, wow. Here is the problem. None of the common requested tasks are stickied or have their own section. I mean come on, do a search for fog lights. There are like tons of new threads for them, sticky the topic. There are no stickies in parts or accessories at all. Fog light install should be numero uno in sticky world. I have to hunt the world to find an 08 tundra wiring diagram. These threads are all over the place. After about an hour of hunting its easier to just post a new thread you know.
Sticky these suckers.
- Fog light install
- Headlight removal
- Radio install
- Rear backup camera install and tweaks
- Alarm wiring diagram
- Where to buy cheap parts
- DVD Headrest installation
- TRD rear swaybar install
OR just sticky all TOXARCH's threads. He's the man. Basically if its a cool mod sticky it. Have a new section for common upgrades and fill it full of stickies. I should be able to find anything I want to do to my truck in one place. The threads are all out there. Maybe I will make a website for New Tundra owners that has all these in there. If only my 3 kids and wife would give me time to do it. LOL.

This is a good idea but will not solve all our problems.
If you want to see well organized Forum click the link on sxd45's original post on this thread, you will then see why he's hanging out over there.
Its a young site thats well maintained and well put together by Tundra owners who just happen to be the Administrators!
This is one of the problems that could be fixed if one of us mods had Admin controls.
I guess I missed out on the story about where Dascrow went. Who is running this site now?
vBulletin has lots of cool plugins that we don't seem to have here. I for one would really like the "who quoted me" plugin, it makes it easy to follow up on posts without having to read every single thread you contributed to.
