A Japanese company ( Toyota ) and an American company (Ford) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.
On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.
The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.
Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.
Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.
They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.
Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents, and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.
They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners, and free pens for the rower There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes, and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.
The next year the Japanese won by two miles.
Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India.
Sadly, The End.
Here's something else to think about:
Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can't make money paying American wages.
TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside theUS. The last quarter's results:
TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.
Ford folks are still scratching their heads.
IF THIS WEREN'T TRUE, IT MIGHT BE FUNNY.

That's so true, its not funny. LOL. Someone should send that to Ford. Oh, wait they wouldn't know how to use the information and would have to spend a ton of money to have it deciphered and read to them. LOL

In Japan, there's a yearly award to whoever demonstrates the best example of growth, development, employee satisfaction, and all the other good stuff that is so highly-valued. It's called the Deming Award, after an American Capitalist who charted the way for America's golden era. He'd shit if he could see what's happening here, today. Corporate Japan read "our" book and committed to it while Corporate America read who-knows-what. Them furiners iz the best amuricans, huh?

After WWII, leaders in American industry took a "model of industry" to Japan to teach them how to manufacture things. It was a model that American manufacturers didn't have much faith in, and actually joked about, but figured that it would keep them busy.
Years later, as the Japanese follow that model to the letter, they are making better products, not just cars, at a better price.
Meanwhile, our manufacturing process is burdened with un-skilled over-paid unions.
Who's laughing now?

The Birth of Japanese Auto Industry did not get off to a good start.
After WWII Japanese businessmen put together a new auto plant, that was converted from dive bombers. They were proud of their "new" cars, but were stumped for a name. Very impressed with the Mercedes they went to the top engineers in German and asked help in naming a their new car. Hoping to captalize on the American market, They asked for an easy name to remember. When the Germans asked when they planned to introduce it to America, and were told "Two Weeks". Their reply//
Ahhh "Dat Zun"??
And the rest was history..
Many of you remember those rust buckets. I Think the turn on Japanese markets came with the renaming of Datsun. Maybe with the intro of Honda also.. Toyota used to be a joke.. Not any more. Remember their first trucks?? Had to order every item seperate, including bumpers.
haha i like the fact that in every video they show a video of the tundra obviously they are scared of this truck
this is toyotas first toyota full size and ford has made full size trucks for a long time and im sure toyota will come out on top in the next generations
so than your not older than 16
tundra can tow more than ford, and i will also bet it will beat a ford 0-60 with a full trailer and just because its on yahoo doesnt mean its good. the 2009 look awful i like the older style alot more
Of course ford is going to win in a ford sponsored test. I agree with you ford has come out with some real nice features and thats the point of competition. Since toyota has come out the big three have struggled to come out with bigger and better.
