Question Truck wouldn't start this morning.

Yesterday, everything seemed fine, got home from work, parked and locked my truck. This morning I'm about to leave for work, jump in the truck and turn the key. Only thing that happens is a loud clicking, almost a buzzing sound. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say it sounds kindda like when someone grinds gears on a manual transmission. Another weird thing is that the CD changer is making a strange sound, like it's changing CD's. It does this after it makes the loud buzzing sound. I'm gonna try and jump it, hoping it's the battery, but if it doesnt work, it's gotta be the starter right??? IF so, is that covered under warranty?? Would the warranty cover the cost of towing the truck to the nearest Toyota Dealer?? Thanks!!!!

That sucks man, sorry to hear that!

My warranty includes towing to the nearest dealer and it should be covered by the warranty as long as you are under the time and mileage limits.

Good luck!

Hope so man, I have the basic warranty, no extended, nothing like that. I'm only at 6k and my truck is only 7 months old. One thing that puts hope in my head is that one time, I drained the battery all the way down by leaving my parking lights on all night. So hopefully that's the issue. I know I didn't leave any lights on but maybe the battery is just done.

How did your battery drain from leaving the lights on?? The lights shut off automatically after a few minutes. I almost never turn mine off. I guess it could be something they added for the 08 model....hopefully you get it worked out! Good luck

hahaha, you bastards! Yea, either way, it's gotta be covered by the warranty but it still sucks to be rolling around in the wifes GMC Envoy instead of my big bad truck. I just called Toyota to verify that the battery was covered as well.

On my truck, if I have the parking lights on, they DO NOT turn off automatically. If I have the headlights on, they do turn off automatically. It's gotta just be an option that can be adjusted with the tech stream.

hmmmm...I'll have to check that parking lights thing. Now you got me curious. It better be covered! I'd be pissed if something like that went down after only 7K. You don't have an aftermarket sound system do ya?

No, but I do have an after market Viper remote start alarm and headlights. I'm hoping they don't blame one of those two things on whatever's going on. I'm thinking they're gonna say the remote starter is causing issues with the starter or some BS. We'll see. I'll keep u guys posted.

yeah muffler bearings are a common problem with trucks now a days, you can only check them with sky hooks and you can only buy them from me so send me 700 dollars.
