solid info on aftermarket sunroof (DC)-give some input if yuo can
Well for the last couple days I have been doing a little search about the possiblity of adding an aftermarket sunroof in a DC. I found a couple of posts around but not solid info. I just emailed a couple of shops ("webasto" sunroof dealers) to try to get some definite info on this. But anyways I am gonna ask again, do you think this is possible to do?
IMO if this can be done for lets say 1k-1.5k I think it's worth it. It would be awsome in a DC. I found different types of sunroof, different sizes etc. this article is also interesting: Adding a Sunroof To Your New Car | tundraheadquarters.com This is NOT something that I am dying to do right now (gotta save the money first lol), it is possible that it won't work, just studying the possibilities, I might actually consider it in the future. |

This is the coolest sunroof I have seen. Though, it's in a Crewmax so I don't know how much help it will be. Maybe they have a DC size. At least it shows you that it can be done.

that one is amazing and of couse something like that won't work in a DC but maybe something like this: 2005 Toyota Tundra with Hollandia 740 Power Inbuilt Sunroof
the roof of the DC is not that small. |

Oh Oh!!.............DO NOT Add an after market Sunroof!!! BIg Mistake!!!
Trust me on this one. First off all lets examine factory sunroofs. After a few years, they start to creak/sqeak/rattle. Then they start to not close/open propertly, and last, they leak due to the gaskets or clogged drain tubes. The sunroof is one of the most under engeenered/cheaply made part(s) on any vehicle.....even the expensive cars!!! Had 3 cars with sunroofs and was not happy with any. My last few vehicles, i ordered specificly with out sunroofs. One more thing to go wrong, if you know what i mean. Now,...In your case, After market sunroof gets even worse. Do you have the metal stripes/bulges were the sunroof would go? If you do, they can NOT install a sunroof. Second, even if they do, the thin roof sheet metal will be too thin and weak. At highway speeds you may have the roof "bounce". And lets not get started on the potential leaks/creaks/sqeaks that may accur. Please I'll save ya big headaches........Take that money, and buy something else for your tundra, like the Big Brembo brake kit, or TRD dual exhaust or.........keep the cash for gas............

I always thought auto manufacturers had to make the roof to withstand the weight of the vehicle if it turn up side down? Some kind of safety requirement.
All of the sunroofs I've had were just fine, didn't leak or break. Maybe I was just lucky.
